To stream a Hindi playlist from OBS on an Indian VPS, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, enter its stream URL and key in OBS, then add a looping media source. For one video, use OBS Media Source with Loop enabled; for several, use VLC Video with Loop Playlist enabled. Match the encoder settings and upload capacity to the VPS, then test the preview and watch page before starting the broadcast.
Before you begin
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current help page also sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements include limits of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key.
- Have the Hindi video files available on the VPS and confirm you have permission to stream them. Hindi-language content follows the same stream-key setup as other content; language does not establish the rights to music or video.
- Check the VPS provider’s current limits for sustained CPU, graphics/runtime support, outbound bandwidth or transfer, and long-running traffic. No particular Indian VPS plan or provider is certified by YouTube or OBS for this workflow.
Create a YouTube encoder stream and copy its key
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then open the Stream tab. Create a new encoder stream or schedule one. You may be able to reuse a key from an earlier setup. Follow YouTube’s encoder stream setup instructions.
- In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key. A stream key is a credential used to route your encoder’s feed to YouTube; treat it like a password.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream details. If OBS offers the YouTube account connection workflow, use the URL and key shown in Live Control Room when configuring the encoder connection.
- Never expose the key in screenshots, public configurations, or logs. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Live Control Room and replace the old key in OBS. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
Add the Hindi playlist as a looping source
For a single video file
- In OBS, select the scene for the broadcast and click + in Sources.
- Choose Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the video file stored on the VPS.
- Enable Loop in the source properties. Confirm the file appears and its audio is audible in the OBS mixer.
For multiple files
- Install VLC on the VPS first. OBS’s VLC Video source depends on VLC; it will not appear if the required VLC installation is missing.
- In OBS Sources, click + and select VLC Video. Add the Hindi videos in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties. Preview the transitions and listen for silence, abrupt cuts, or missing audio before going live.
OBS documents Media Source looping a single file and VLC Video for playlists, including its playlist-loop option. See OBS Media Sources.
Choose encoder settings the VPS can sustain
Set the output resolution and frame rate in OBS to a profile the VPS can encode continuously and upload reliably. YouTube’s recommendations depend on resolution, frame rate, and codec, so do not apply one bitrate to every stream. As a specific example, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for H.264 at 720p and 30 fps. Its encoder guidance recommends CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Check the applicable profile in YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Use CBR rather than a variable bitrate target for the encoder stream.
- Set the keyframe interval to two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
- Do not choose a higher resolution, frame rate, or bitrate just because OBS offers it. The VPS must encode and upload that combination reliably.
- If you configure a backup feed, include its bitrate when calculating the total upload requirement.
Check the VPS upload connection
Test the VPS’s outbound upload capacity rather than relying on an advertised download speed. YouTube recommends roughly 20% upload headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, an 8 Mbps stream needs about 9.6 Mbps of usable upload capacity before accounting for a backup feed. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Also check whether the VPS plan’s outbound transfer allowance covers the broadcast duration. Sustained encoding load, graphics support, network performance, provider policy, and transfer charges vary by provider and plan; confirm them directly with your provider and test on the exact VPS configuration you intend to use.
Test, start, and monitor the broadcast
- Set up the stream before the intended start time and start OBS early enough for YouTube to receive the encoder feed.
- Wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm the video is moving, the audio is present and balanced, and the selected Hindi playlist is playing as expected.
- Open the watch page and verify that viewers can access the stream. Begin the scheduled broadcast only after the preview and watch page are working.
- Keep monitoring the encoder status, video, and audio during the stream. A successful initial connection does not establish that the VPS will stay stable indefinitely.
Plan for long streams and replays
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a stream longer than 12 hours will produce one complete archive based on that rule. If replay availability matters, plan around the duration and verify the archive after the broadcast. The OBS media-source instructions describe playback and looping, not an unattended VPS restart, failover, or 24/7 availability procedure.

Common problems and fixes
- OBS cannot connect to YouTube: Recheck the stream URL and key against Live Control Room. If the key was reset or exposed, update OBS with the current key.
- VLC Video is missing in Sources: Install VLC on the VPS, then reopen OBS and check Sources again.
- The video stops after one play: For one file, enable Loop in Media Source properties. For multiple files, enable Loop Playlist in VLC Video properties.
- YouTube preview is unstable or reports connection trouble: Check actual outbound capacity, reduce the output profile if the VPS cannot sustain it, and preserve the recommended upload headroom above the stream’s total bitrate.
- The stream has picture but no audio, or the wrong file is playing: Check the selected file or playlist order, OBS audio mixer levels, and the preview before starting the public broadcast.
- The VPS stops streaming after running for a while: Check sustained CPU and graphics/runtime support, provider network and transfer limits, and provider rules for long-running traffic. The reviewed OBS and YouTube guidance does not establish a universal headless setup or a VPS restart recipe, so test your specific machine and configuration.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube playlist to keep running without leaving OBS or a VPS at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality. It can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start your free first day.
