On YouTube, playlist “priority” means the order of videos in the playlist—not a special score that makes a track play more often. On desktop, open the playlist in YouTube’s editor and drag its videos into the sequence you want. But that saved order is not documented as a scheduler for an externally encoded 24/7 live broadcast: the encoder or playout system sends that live feed, so manage its queue and looping there.
Set the saved order of a YouTube playlist
Use YouTube Studio to reach the playlist, then edit its order on YouTube. YouTube’s playlist guide documents choosing an arrangement and manually reordering videos by drag and drop; it does not describe a weighted priority setting.
- Open YouTube Studio on a desktop browser. Sign in to the channel that owns the playlist.
- Go to Content → Playlists. Find the playlist you want to change.
- Open its menu and choose Edit on YouTube. This opens the playlist editor.
- Drag each video up or down until the playlist shows the intended sequence. YouTube’s instruction is: “To sort videos in a playlist: Drag and drop the video up and down to reorder.” See YouTube Studio’s playlist guide.
- Review the playlist as a viewer would. Check the opening track and transitions between adjacent videos, then confirm the displayed order is the one you mean to publish.
When creating a playlist in Studio, YouTube’s documented flow also lets you choose how videos will be arranged before adding videos and creating the playlist. For a playlist you are curating by hand, manual ordering makes the intended sequence explicit.
Choose an order that serves the music
YouTube provides the ordering controls; it does not prescribe a universal sequence for a music channel. Treat the order as an editorial decision. A practical approach is to decide what a listener should hear first, then arrange the rest to support the channel’s purpose.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Choose an opener deliberately. Put the track that best establishes the channel’s mood or purpose first, rather than assuming the first item is just a label or cover image.
- Group tracks into coherent blocks. Keep related devotional, instrumental, language, artist, or energy choices together when that is useful to your audience.
- Plan transitions. Consider whether the next track feels like a natural continuation, a deliberate change of mood, or a new block.
- Make daypart changes intentional. If you maintain separate playlists for different times or moods, order each one for its own use rather than assuming one sequence suits every listening session.
These are programming suggestions, not YouTube rules. The cited playlist documentation establishes how to set an order, not which track will perform best or how often a position will be played.
Know what playlist order changes—and what it does not
The order saved by the channel owner and the order a viewer temporarily chooses are separate. YouTube’s watch-page playlist panel can be reordered for that viewer; that action is not evidence that the channel’s saved playlist changed. See YouTube’s playlist help. The same help page says reordering is unavailable for playlists containing only YouTube Shorts.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
YouTube also documents a viewer-side option to loop a playlist during playback on YouTube. That repeats playback on the watch surface; it is not documented as a control for the order or repetition of an externally supplied live stream. See YouTube’s playlist loop guide.
The cited YouTube playlist pages do not describe a priority score, rotation weight, hourly scheduler, automatic queue refresh, or music-radio programming system. Moving a track toward the top therefore should not be treated as a way to make it repeat more often. Nor do the pages establish that changing a public playlist will change a queue already being sent by a separate encoder or playout tool.

For a 24/7 live channel, set the playout sequence in the feed
An always-on live broadcast is a different workflow from publishing a YouTube playlist. In YouTube’s encoder workflow, an encoder converts and sends a live feed to YouTube. You enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder, start sending content, wait for the preview, and go live in Live Control Room. The encoder or playout system is responsible for the content it sends and its queue behavior. YouTube’s guide does not say that the saved order of a channel playlist schedules that feed. Read YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Decide which system produces the live feed. Identify the encoder or playout service that is supplying video, rather than relying on the public playlist as a scheduler.
- Build and verify the sequence in that system. Use its instructions for queue management, looping, scheduling, and what happens when a source playlist changes. Behavior can differ by product; YouTube’s cited guides do not establish a generic integration with third-party queues.
- Connect the feed to YouTube. Put the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the encoder as directed by YouTube, then send the feed and wait for the Live Control Room preview.
- Test before relying on it. YouTube advises testing the stream and monitoring stream health. Its encoder settings include stream protocol, latency, and auto-start/auto-stop options; choose settings for the actual encoder workflow and consult YouTube’s live settings and encoder settings.
- Check rights for every item you broadcast. Use music and video you have the necessary rights to stream, and review YouTube’s current rules for the channel and content. A correct sequence does not resolve copyright or other content-policy issues.
Plan archives separately from continuous availability. YouTube Help says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” Its cited guidance does not give the same assurance for streams lasting 12 hours or more, so do not assume one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will produce a complete replay. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.

Troubleshoot order and playback separately
- The public playlist still shows the old sequence: Reopen the playlist in the editor, confirm you changed the saved order rather than a viewer’s watch-page panel, and check that you edited the correct playlist.
- A listener sees a different sequence: The viewer may have temporarily reordered their own playlist panel. That does not establish that the channel’s canonical order changed.
- The live broadcast ignores the public playlist order: Check the encoder or playout system’s own queue. The cited YouTube documentation does not establish that a saved playlist controls an external live feed.
- A change to the source playlist does not appear in the live feed: Check the specific playout tool’s documentation for source-refresh behavior. YouTube’s playlist and encoder guides do not specify how third-party integrations handle such changes.
- The playlist loop option does not keep the live channel running: That option is documented for viewer-side playlist playback on YouTube, not as an encoder control.
- The live feed is missing or unstable: Check that the encoder is sending to the intended stream URL with the correct stream key, inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and run a test before depending on the broadcast.
- You expect a full replay of a continuous broadcast: Do not infer complete archiving from the under-12-hour statement; the cited guide does not promise the same for a stream at or beyond 12 hours.
Or let it run in the cloud
