You can run that setup from your own computer or use a cloud service for prerecorded programs. Settle music rights before going live: YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and a licence alone may not stop an interruption.
Choose the kind of Urdu radio program you are running
First decide whether the stream will play scheduled recordings, use a live studio feed, or combine both. That choice determines the audio path, staffing and recovery plan. A YouTube radio-style livestream needs a continuous audio source and a video signal; the visual can be a suitable static or animated presentation, but it does not replace the audio source.
- Prerecorded programming: Use radio playout or automation software, or another continuous audio source, to play recordings and scheduled segments. Check that the source can continue through playlist changes and recover from a stopped file or application.
- Live studio programming: Route the studio mixer output into the encoder computer through a compatible audio input or interface. Check levels and listen to the feed being sent, not only to the studio speakers.
- Hybrid programming: Plan how the system will switch between presenter input and recordings, and what viewers hear if the presenter feed or automation stops.
CEMCA’s Web Radio: A Manual for Streaming Audio on the Web describes the general source-client and streaming-server architecture, including mixer and sound-card arrangements. It was published in 2013; its software instructions and equipment examples are historical, not current product recommendations.
Clear the music and other rights before streaming
Make an inventory of every planned recording, composition, spoken segment, image, looped animation and other third-party element. Get permissions or licences that cover the actual use: public online transmission on YouTube, the relevant territories, monetization if applicable, and any archive or replay. Rights to a recording and rights to the underlying composition may involve different parties.

YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music rights, and to meet legal requirements in the livestream territory. The terms name artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants among the relevant rights holders.
India’s Copyright Act, Chapter I, defines “communication to the public” broadly to include making a work or performance available by display or diffusion, whether or not anyone actually sees or hears it. The official Copyright Rules, Chapter VIII, includes statutory licensing provisions for certain broadcasts, with notice, royalty and record-keeping requirements. Those provisions do not establish that a terrestrial-radio licence automatically covers a YouTube simulcast or a particular online format. Confirm your specific repertoire and use with rights owners or qualified Indian counsel.

Build the signal path and test it before launch
- Prepare the program source. Confirm that the playlist, automation system or studio feed can run continuously. For prerecorded shows, check file transitions and the behavior at the end of the playlist. For a studio, check the mixer output and the encoder computer’s input route.
- Provide an audio input where needed. A computer-based source may not need a separate interface. A studio mixer or other external source may need a compatible audio interface or input device. Choose it for the actual output and inputs in your signal chain; the available sources do not establish a current model recommendation.
- Prepare the visual signal. Supply a visual suitable for the radio program, such as a station identity graphic or program presentation, and check that it remains present throughout the stream. Confirm that you have permission to use any artwork or other third-party visual.
- Connect an encoder to YouTube Live Control Room. Use the stream details provided for your channel and enter them in your encoder. The sources available here do not establish a current, step-by-step YouTube encoder configuration or universal values for bitrate, resolution, frame rate or keyframe interval. Follow the current settings and compatibility guidance shown by YouTube and your encoder rather than relying on an outdated preset.
- Run a controlled test. Verify the public-facing video, audio levels, intelligibility, playlist transitions and stability of the source. Check the actual YouTube output, not just the encoder preview. Confirm that the stream is accessible to the intended audience before treating it as a 24/7 service.
- Protect account access and stream details. Restrict access to the YouTube channel and encoder configuration to trusted operators. Keep a written recovery procedure so an authorized person can reconnect the encoder if it stops.
Plan for interruptions, copyright matches and archives
YouTube says it scans all live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn the operator; if the matched content remains, it may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. A copyright strike can also terminate a live stream. A licence does not by itself prevent a live interruption if the channel is not on the relevant Content ID allowlist.
- Before going live with licensed material, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist where applicable. Confirm the channel identity and the material covered with the owner.
- If YouTube interrupts the stream, check the Live Control Room and account notifications for the warning or match, identify the material, and follow YouTube’s and the rights owner’s process. Do not simply restart with the same unresolved material.
- If you keep an archive, review the recording separately. YouTube says Content ID claims may be made after a live stream ends, so a successful live broadcast does not establish that the archive is clear to keep online.
- Keep a rights log, including the source and rights holder for each recording or work, the permission scope, territories, archive status, and any allowlisting confirmation. This helps operators identify a disputed item without guessing during an interruption.

Choose infrastructure for the station you actually have
A 24/7 stream is an operating system, not a single encoder setting. List the points that can stop it—power, internet, audio source, encoder process, YouTube account access and rights interruptions—and decide who or what will notice and respond. Compare options on source compatibility, maintenance, support response, monitoring and recovery, not on an assumption that hosting solves rights clearance.

CEMCA’s 2013 manual describes the basic architecture and notes support response as a factor when using an external streaming provider. Treat it as background on system design, not proof of current service performance or current equipment suitability.
