How to Stream a Looping Fireplace Video with Relaxation Sounds on YouTube Live

Use OBS to loop a prerecorded fireplace video with relaxation sounds on YouTube Live, or run the uploaded file from the cloud without keeping a computer on.

You can broadcast a prerecorded fireplace video with relaxation sounds as a continuous YouTube Live stream using OBS Studio: create a YouTube broadcast, add the video as a looping Media Source, connect OBS with your stream key, check the preview and audio, then start streaming. Your computer, internet connection and OBS must stay running for a local stream. If you want the loop to continue without leaving a computer on at home, a cloud service is an alternative.

Before you start: prepare the media and your channel

  • Prepare one complete video file. Combine the fireplace visuals and relaxation audio, or use an editor to create a file with both. Check that the sound is present throughout, is not clipped or unexpectedly silent, and starts and ends cleanly for looping.
  • Confirm your rights. Check permissions for the footage, music, ambient sounds, artwork and any stock elements. The license should cover YouTube live streaming, your intended territories, monetization if applicable, and an archived replay. Keep proof of permission. A purchase receipt or “royalty-free” label by itself does not establish that every use is allowed.
  • Enable YouTube Live ahead of time. Google’s Full Live Production guide says first-time live access may take 24 hours to activate. Enable it in advance and confirm the current YouTube Studio interface is ready before scheduling a broadcast.
  • Choose how to run it. OBS is a free local-encoder route, according to the workflow source. It gives you control over scenes and options such as overlays, a microphone, a camera or manual switching. The computer and its connection must remain available. A cloud service can play uploaded files after setup without keeping your home computer on; details vary by provider.

Set up the YouTube broadcast and OBS loop

  1. Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio → Create → Go live and use the Live Control Room to create or schedule the stream. Add an accurate title and description, then select the appropriate audience and privacy settings. YouTube can change interface labels, so follow the current Live Control Room prompts if they differ.
  2. Connect OBS to the broadcast. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube or YouTube RTMPS as the service, and connect using the stream key shown for the broadcast in Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not include it in a video, description, chat message or screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before using it again.
  3. Add the fireplace file. In OBS, under Sources, select + → Media Source, choose the prepared file, and enable Loop. Fit the source to the canvas, then check that the composition is not cropped or bordered unexpectedly. For a playlist of clips, verify the order, transitions and audio levels rather than assuming each file will join seamlessly.
  4. Check video and sound in OBS. Play the source and watch the preview. Confirm the fireplace image is visible and the audio meter responds. Listen for clipping, gaps, abrupt jumps or unwanted audio. Keep desktop or microphone sources muted unless you intend to include them.
  5. Send the encoder feed and inspect YouTube’s preview. Select Start Streaming in OBS. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and check stream health. Confirm both image and relaxation sounds arrive as intended; use YouTube’s Go Live control if the broadcast settings require it. Do not rely on the OBS preview alone.
  6. Keep the local setup awake. For a local broadcast, leave OBS and the computer running and connected. Disable sleep or automatic shutdown if needed, and keep an eye on the broadcast. A power cut, lost connection or closed encoder can interrupt the feed.

Resolution, frame rate and encoder settings

Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance and the settings displayed for your broadcast when choosing resolution, frame rate, bitrate and keyframe interval. These settings depend on the output you intend to send and can change over time. Do not copy an old example bitrate as a universal value. Keep the source’s dimensions and frame rate in mind, and check Live Control Room’s stream-health feedback after OBS starts sending.

Protect the stream from copyright interruptions

YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. If its systems identify a match, YouTube may show a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the stream or terminate it if the content remains. A license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: the rights owner may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived broadcasts can receive Content ID claims after the live stream ends. See YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

  • Clear every component of the mix, not only the music: fireplace footage, ambient sound, artwork, samples and stock assets all matter.
  • Check the specific license terms for live use, replay, territory and monetization; obtain any required written permission.
  • If the rights owner uses Content ID, ask whether your channel needs to be allowlisted for the live broadcast and archive.
  • Do not assume a stream is safe from claims or interruption merely because you have a license. Keep permission records available if a claim or interruption occurs.

Plan for the replay and long broadcasts

Google’s Full Live Production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends manually recording and uploading streams longer than 12 hours if you want to keep a replay. If your fireplace broadcast is intended to run beyond that threshold, decide in advance whether you need a separate recording and upload workflow. An archive may also be subject to Content ID claims after the live stream ends.

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
You cannot start a YouTube live broadcast. Live access may not yet be enabled for the channel. Enable live streaming in advance. Google’s guide says first-time access may take 24 hours; check the current Live Control Room status rather than waiting until the planned start.
OBS connects, but YouTube shows no incoming picture or audio. The wrong broadcast or stream key may be selected, or the source may not be playing. Check that OBS is connected to the intended broadcast and that the key matches it. Verify the Media Source is active, then wait for and inspect YouTube’s preview and stream-health status.
The fireplace plays once and stops. Loop is not enabled for the Media Source, or the wrong source is being used. Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. Play through the end of the file to confirm it restarts.
The picture arrives, but the relaxation sounds do not. The media file may lack an audio track, the source may be muted, or the audio routing may be wrong. Check the file in a media player, inspect the OBS audio meter while it plays, and confirm the source is not muted. Verify the audio in YouTube’s incoming preview before going live.
The stream ends or drops unexpectedly. A local computer may sleep, lose power or internet, or OBS may stop sending. Check power and network stability, disable sleep or shutdown during the broadcast, and verify OBS remains connected. For a stream that should not depend on a home computer staying on, consider the cloud option below.
YouTube warns, replaces or interrupts the broadcast. A live copyright match may have been detected. Review the notice and the rights for every component. Contact the rights owner about permission and any required Content ID allowlisting; do not assume that restarting alone resolves the underlying rights issue.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the fireplace video and relaxation-sound mix, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the file from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the file as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. You still need the rights to broadcast all of the media, and the stream remains subject to YouTube’s copyright rules.

The first day is free with no card, with one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. See StreamNeo for details, or start your free day.
