Use a music player with explicit crossfade controls, then route its audio into the encoder sending your stream to YouTube. A playlist that loops is not necessarily a playlist that crossfades: OBS documents looping and shuffle for its VLC playlist source, but not fades between tracks. RadioBOSS is one documented option with settings for overlapping tracks and fades. Crossfading smooths song changes; it does not by itself keep a 24/7 broadcast running or provide rights to stream the music.
What a crossfade does—and what you need
A crossfade overlaps the end of one song with the beginning of the next: the outgoing track fades down as the incoming track fades up. Without an overlap point and fade behavior, a playlist may simply move from one file to the next, even if it repeats continuously.
The basic setup has three parts: a playlist in crossfade-capable playback software, an audio route from that player to a streaming encoder, and a YouTube Live broadcast. The exact routing steps vary with your operating system and audio devices; the software documentation cited here establishes the capabilities, not one universal player-to-OBS configuration.
Set up crossfades in RadioBOSS
RadioBOSS documents a Crossfading settings page. Its quick-start guide points to Settings > Crossfades. The manual describes controls including Fade in, Mix point, Trigger mix at, Fade out, and Start fading out on mix. The “Mix point” is the point before the current track ends when the next track begins. See the RadioBOSS Crossfading manual and RadioBOSS Quick Start.

- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
- Prepare the playlist. Use recordings cleared for the livestream, and check that the files play correctly in the order you intend to broadcast.
- Open Settings > Crossfades. Enable a mix point so the next track starts before the current one ends. Configure fade-in and fade-out behavior there.
- Audition transitions. Listen to consecutive tracks with varied tempos, openings, and endings. Adjust the overlap when vocals, percussion, or a long instrumental decay collide. There is no single ideal duration for every song pair.
- Choose the player output device. RadioBOSS documents selecting a main sound-card output and notes that a system or virtual card can be used. Choose the device that your encoder can receive through your computer’s audio-routing setup; a separate physical mixer or interface is not inherently required. See RadioBOSS Playback.
- Feed that audio to the encoder. In OBS, check that the routed signal appears on the audio meter and reaches the program output. OBS supports media sources and a VLC playlist source; the latter requires VLC and can loop or shuffle. The OBS Media Sources guide does not document crossfading between VLC playlist items, so use the crossfade-capable player for the overlaps rather than assuming an OBS playlist will create them.
Choose the playback path that matches the job
| Playback path | Documented capability | Practical consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Crossfade-capable player feeding an encoder | RadioBOSS documents mix-point, fade, and output-device settings. | Provides explicit transition controls; you must configure and test the audio route into the encoder. |
| OBS VLC playlist source | OBS documents playlist playback, looping, and shuffle; its cited guide does not describe track crossfades. | Useful for playlist playback, but do not treat looping as evidence of a smooth overlap. |
Test the full YouTube broadcast before leaving it unattended
Crossfading handles transitions, not continuous operation. Playback software, the audio route, encoder, computer power, and network connection all have to keep working for a computer-based stream to continue. Test the complete chain in an unlisted broadcast before relying on it for a long run. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test, particularly for high-production or high-investment events; check that audio survives transitions, the playlist repeats as intended, and the stream remains stable. Consider what you will do if the player or connection fails; no setup described here guarantees uninterrupted uptime.
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Review the current YouTube live-streaming requirements.
- Allow time for first-time activation. YouTube for Artists advises enabling first-time livestreaming at least 24 hours before going live. Confirm current requirements and controls in YouTube Live Control Room and its Going live guidance.
- Run an unlisted test. Listen across several transitions and check the encoder’s audio meter, stream output, playlist repeat behavior, and connection. Do not leave the public stream unattended until the full chain behaves as intended.
Clear music rights before streaming
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. Its copyright guidance for live streams says a match can lead to a warning and placeholder; continued use may interrupt or terminate the livestream. If you have a license for third-party material, YouTube advises asking the relevant owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.

Confirm that permissions cover continuous public livestreaming and any planned archive or replay. A listening subscription, credit line, or permission for a different use does not automatically grant those rights. There is no universal India-specific licensing checklist established here: requirements depend on the repertoire, rights holders, territories, and intended use. For an Indian music catalog or a particular business model, confirm permissions with the rights holders or a qualified local adviser.
