1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsStreamlabs Talk Studio and Melon are not two separate YouTube live-streaming services: Streamlabs says Melon was renamed Streamlabs Talk Studio. If you are comparing them, the useful question is what Talk Studio does today and which of its plans fits your YouTube workflow.
Is Streamlabs Talk Studio different from Melon?
No. Streamlabs announced the change as a renaming intended to unify its creator tools: “We’re excited to announce that we are changing Melon’s name to Streamlabs Talk Studio to help unify all our tools.” The announcement identifies Melon as the former name of Talk Studio, not a separate current product to compare side by side. Read Streamlabs’ renaming announcement.
That means a comparison framed as “Talk Studio vs Melon” can be misleading. The meaningful comparison is between Talk Studio’s available plan options and the requirements of your show. Feature and pricing details below are Streamlabs’ published product claims, not the results of independent testing.
What Talk Studio offers for YouTube
Streamlabs describes Talk Studio as a browser-based studio for live streaming and recording, with guest invitations, screen sharing, stream scheduling, and show branding. It says no download is needed. Its getting-started documentation describes configuring a destination, setting up a camera and microphone, inviting guests, going live, and recording.

These capabilities suit a hosted show, interview, presentation, or screen-led broadcast. The same plan page says Pro is included with Streamlabs Ultra and advertises a seven-day trial. Availability and eligibility can change; verify the offer on the plan page rather than assuming it applies to every account.
Which plan fits your YouTube show?
Consider Standard if
- 720p is sufficient for your intended stream.
- You need one streaming destination and no more than five guests.
- Your recording needs fit within the listed four-hour-per-track limit.
Consider Pro if
- You need 1080p, multiple destinations, or a larger guest panel.
- Your recordings may exceed four hours per track or you want the listed 30-day storage.
- You need production options such as media uploads, more branding, co-host seats, sound effects, custom RTMP destinations, or disconnection protection.
- The annual billing option or inclusion with Streamlabs Ultra suits your budget and tool needs; verify current terms first.
There is no universally better plan: choose against the actual resolution, guest count, destination count, recording length, and production tools your show requires.

Set up Talk Studio for a YouTube live stream
- Check YouTube eligibility and verification. Streamlabs’ destination guide says YouTube channels must complete two verification steps before choosing to record or livestream through Talk Studio. It describes channel verification followed by an initial unlisted test using YouTube’s built-in webcam flow, then a waiting period. YouTube’s workflow and eligibility rules can change, so follow the current instructions shown in your YouTube account and Streamlabs’ YouTube destination guide.
- Open Talk Studio and configure the destination. Select YouTube as the destination and complete the connection steps presented in the studio. Confirm that the intended channel is selected before scheduling or going live.
- Set up audio and video. Choose the camera and microphone you intend to use, grant browser permissions, and check the selected devices and levels. Make a short test recording or unlisted test before a public broadcast.
- Add guests or share your screen if needed. Invite guests and arrange the show layout for an interview or presentation. Check what is visible and audible before starting the public stream.
- Schedule, go live, or record. Use Talk Studio’s available controls to schedule a stream, start the live broadcast, or record. Confirm the destination and broadcast settings before the audience-facing start.
Optional equipment
Talk Studio is browser-based, so a particular camera or microphone model is not established as a software prerequisite. YouTube’s general live-stream guidance names these common equipment categories:
- Microphone: An external microphone is an option if you want a dedicated audio source.
- Webcam: An external webcam is an option if you want a camera beyond a built-in device.
- Headphones: YouTube also lists headphones as typical equipment.
YouTube notes that more advanced productions may use multiple cameras and microphones, mixers, or hardware encoders. Those are production choices, not requirements imposed by Talk Studio. See YouTube’s live-streaming equipment guidance.

If your goal is specifically to keep uploaded video playing live on a YouTube channel around the clock, StreamNeo is a different kind of tool from Talk Studio: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud rather than providing a browser studio for a camera-led show. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; streams run at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free day.
