Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a stable 24/7 YouTube radio stream, judge your broadband by sustained upload performance—not its advertised download speed. Set the encoder bitrate below what your connection can reliably upload, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, connect the streaming computer to the router with Ethernet where practical, and test the full audio setup before going live.
Choose the stream quality your upload can sustain
YouTube’s current H.264 encoder guidance lists 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps (values checked 2026-10-03). These are encoder recommendations, not guarantees that an Indian broadband plan will sustain those upload rates. YouTube lists other recommendations for different resolutions, frame rates and codecs in its live encoder settings.
A radio stream with a static image may need less video capacity than moving footage, but its audio still has to reach YouTube continuously. Use the actual output bitrate of your encoder—including audio and any backup stream bitrate when applicable—to assess the load. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom beyond the primary and backup stream bitrates; do not set the stream to consume all the upload capacity you measure. See YouTube’s filming tips for live streaming and streaming tips.
Check the broadband plan, not just the advertised speed
Measure upload at realistic times
Run upload speed tests more than once, including at busy times and while household devices are using the connection as they normally would. A single test is only a snapshot; YouTube notes that inbound bandwidth is often greater than outbound bandwidth and that shared networks can limit available capacity. The practical goal is an upload connection that stays comfortably above the total stream bitrate, rather than one that briefly reaches it.

Look up typical speeds and fair-use terms
TRAI does not prescribe a minimum broadband upload or download speed. Its Broadband FAQ says providers should indicate typical speeds generally available in their tariff offerings; it also says at least 90% of measured test samples must meet or exceed the declared typical speed during testing. TRAI says providers must specify the fair-usage limit and the speed after that limit is exhausted. Check the current terms for your exact plan, city and billing type; the word “unlimited” alone does not establish that a plan suits continuous broadcasting.
Plan terms can differ even within a provider. Airtel’s Xstream Fiber terms, checked 2026-10-03, state a 3333 GB fair-usage threshold per billing cycle and say speed may be reduced up to 2 Mbps after it; those terms may be amended. Jio’s JioFiber Plans FAQ describes its plans as unlimited for home use, while also noting that data services may be discontinued in cases including misuse, fraudulent, unauthorized or commercial use. Read the terms for the actual plan and ask the provider whether your intended public, continuous broadcast is permitted.

Data consumption depends on the encoder’s actual bitrate and how long it runs; other household activity uses plan data too. The cited sources do not establish one official monthly data-use figure for a 24/7 radio stream, so do not estimate it without your actual bitrate and operating time.
Connect and configure the streaming setup
Use a wired connection where possible
YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer live streaming. Connect the streaming computer directly to the router with a suitable Ethernet cable, such as a Cat6 cable of the required length; Wi-Fi is not automatically unusable, but a wired link avoids one source of local wireless variability.

Keep other traffic from competing
Large uploads, downloads, backups and other high-bandwidth activity on the same connection can leave less upload capacity for the stream. Pause or schedule them during broadcast when possible. YouTube notes that even a high-speed office connection can be constrained when many people share it.
Use backup power only for the interruption it can cover
A UPS for the modem/router or streaming machine may help through a brief local power interruption, depending on its capacity and the connected equipment. It cannot keep the ISP’s network online during an external outage, and the available sources do not establish a suitable UPS capacity or runtime. Treat it as limited risk reduction, not an end-to-end continuity guarantee.

Test the actual radio stream before relying on it
- Set the intended encoder output. Choose the resolution, frame rate and bitrate you plan to use for the real broadcast, then confirm the total primary and backup stream bitrate fits within measured upload capacity with YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
- Run a representative test. YouTube recommends including audio and movement similar to the intended content. For a radio format using a static image, test the actual audio chain, image and encoder configuration rather than a different sample setup.
- Check the preview and stream health. Confirm the picture appears as expected, audio is present and intelligible, and YouTube’s stream-health indicators do not show problems before relying on the broadcast.
- Monitor during the live stream. Watch YouTube’s health messages while live. If instability appears, reduce competing traffic first; if it persists, lower the bitrate or video settings and test again rather than running at the limit of the connection.
Troubleshoot interruptions and poor stream health
- Upload speed is inconsistent or stream health degrades at busy times: repeat tests under normal household load, pause large transfers and check whether the plan’s stated typical upload speed and post-FUP speed can support the chosen bitrate. If the problem persists, ask the provider about the exact plan and local service conditions.
- The stream becomes unstable on Wi-Fi: connect the computer to the router with Ethernet and retest with the same encoder settings.
- Problems begin after heavy data use: check the plan’s fair-usage threshold and post-threshold speed. Do not assume “unlimited” means unchanged upload performance for the entire billing cycle.
- A local power cut stops the stream: a UPS may help only if the interruption is within its runtime and it powers the equipment needed. It will not remedy an external ISP outage.
- The network looks adequate but YouTube still reports a problem: verify the encoder’s actual bitrate, test audio and video together, and check YouTube’s current stream-health messages. Lower settings and retest if the connection cannot consistently maintain the configured output.
Clear the rights for the audio
A stable connection does not establish that music or other audio is cleared for continuous rebroadcasting. Confirm the applicable rights for the specific recordings and intended YouTube use before streaming; broadband and encoder settings cannot resolve copyright or licensing questions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer and broadband connection to carry the stream continuously, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video running as a 24/7 YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays the uploaded video rather than broadcasting from a camera. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
