You can keep a prerecorded fireplace video live on YouTube by running an encoder on a cloud server. The encoder sends the video to YouTube Live using the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio; once it is running, your home computer does not need to stay on. The reliable setup is more than pressing Start: enable live streaming in advance, check bandwidth and the preview, monitor the broadcast, and do not count on YouTube to archive an uninterrupted 24-hour stream.
What you need and how the setup works
A cloud server runs encoding software and sends your prerecorded video to YouTube Live. YouTube identifies the destination with a stream URL and authorizes the connection with a stream key. You create or select a live stream in YouTube Studio, enter those connection details in the encoder, then confirm the incoming video in YouTube’s Live Control Room. - A YouTube channel eligible to livestream, with live streaming enabled.
- A video and audio track you have rights to stream and archive.
- A cloud host with enough upload bandwidth for the encoder’s outgoing bitrate.
- An encoder configured to send the video to YouTube using the correct stream URL and key.
- A plan for monitoring interruptions and preserving a separate recording if the footage matters.
YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not prescribe a particular cloud server size, operating system, provider, or monthly cost. Those choices depend on the encoder and configuration you select, so test the actual setup rather than assuming a generic machine specification will be sufficient.
Enable YouTube live streaming before launch
Verify the channel and check that it has no live-stream restriction within the previous 90 days. If the channel has never livestreamed, YouTube says enablement may take up to 24 hours. Start activation well before the planned launch; the first-time delay can otherwise leave the channel unable to go live when you expect.

Follow YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance and complete any verification steps shown for your channel. Do not treat creating a stream in Studio as proof that the channel is already enabled to broadcast.
Configure the cloud encoder and start the stream
- Create or select the event: In YouTube Studio, create a live stream or select the stream you intend to use. Choose the intended visibility and schedule settings for the broadcast.
- Copy the connection details: Open the stream’s encoder or stream settings in Studio and copy its stream URL and corresponding stream key.
- Protect the key: Enter the key in the cloud encoder’s stream destination settings. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that stream. Do not put it in public notes, screenshots, or a public repository. The reviewed YouTube instructions explain the key’s role but do not specify a particular cloud secret-management system.
- Set the video source: Choose the fireplace recording or playlist in the encoder. Confirm that its video and audio play as intended and that any looping behavior is configured in the software you are using.
- Start the encoder: Start sending the feed, then check YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room for an incoming preview and any warnings. Go live only after the preview and event settings look right.
- Verify from a viewer’s perspective: Open the event as a viewer using its intended access level. Check that video and sound are present and that the stream is accessible to the audience you intend.
YouTube’s encoder page also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 livestreaming of prerecorded videos. That listing confirms a stated use case; it is not a YouTube endorsement of performance, and it does not establish comparative cost or reliability.

Set bandwidth, test, and monitor the broadcast
The cloud host needs upload capacity greater than the encoder’s outgoing bitrate. YouTube recommends approximately 20% upload-bandwidth headroom and says to account for primary and backup encoder feeds when both are in use. See YouTube’s streaming tips. Leave that margin rather than sizing the connection exactly to the nominal stream bitrate.
- Test the encoder-to-YouTube connection before relying on it for continuous viewing.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and confirm that the event is accessible.
- Monitor both picture and audio quality, not just whether the encoder reports that it is connected.
- If using encoder failover, test that process rather than assuming the backup feed will take over correctly.
- If recording a local archive, check that the recording is being written and that storage is not filling up.
YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream, and keeping a local recording as a backup when appropriate. A local recording is an additional safeguard, not a substitute for the cloud encoder that keeps the live feed running.

Rights and YouTube rules for fireplace footage
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to stream and archive all of the video and audio, including music. A fireplace clip or ambient soundtrack found online is not automatically cleared for continuous rebroadcast. Confirm the permissions for the exact footage and audio, and comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and applicable laws. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
Rights to broadcast and eligibility for monetization are separate questions. Do not assume that owning or licensing a clip guarantees monetization, or that a long loop qualifies as original programming. This workflow does not itself establish eligibility for YouTube monetization; check the current YouTube policies that apply to your channel and content.

Will YouTube save the full 24-hour stream?
Do not rely on a single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast as your archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a durable copy, record separately or use deliberate shorter sessions and retain a separate backup. The limits are described in YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
DVR can let viewers pause and rewind, but YouTube says it may be limited or unavailable for very long broadcasts, including streams longer than 12 hours. Avoid promising viewers full rewind on an uninterrupted 24/7 stream; see YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Troubleshoot common cloud-streaming problems
