You can run a continuous YouTube meditation stream by sending a prerecorded video playlist through an encoder or a cloud service. For a do-it-yourself setup, verify that live streaming is enabled on your channel, prepare video and audio you have rights to use, connect an encoder to a YouTube stream key, and test playback before going public. A 24/7 stream needs recurring checks—and YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived, so keep a local recording if preservation matters.
Choose how to keep the stream running
There are two practical routes for streaming prerecorded material continuously to YouTube:
- Run an encoder on a computer: You control playback and the stream, but the computer, encoder process, and internet connection must remain available. Plan what happens if playback ends, the host restarts, or the connection drops.
- Use a cloud service: YouTube lists a cloud service category for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams, but that listing is not a performance guarantee or an endorsement. Check channel access and prepare the content
Confirm live-streaming access

Make a rights-cleared playlist
Assemble the visual and audio sequence in a playback workflow supported by your encoder. Keep documentation showing that you have rights for worldwide streaming and any archive use you plan to make. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to secure all necessary rights, including music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
Do not assume that a meditation track is usable just because it is online, described as royalty-free, or licensed for some other purpose. Check that the permission covers the actual use, territories, duration, and any public-performance or archive requirements relevant to your stream.
Decide what viewers should experience
Choose whether the stream should show one long ambient scene or rotate through a playlist, and make sure the playback sequence has a defined restart behavior. For meditation and sleep, also decide whether viewers should be able to pause and rewind with DVR or should return to the current live point; verify the current DVR setting in YouTube’s stream settings.

Create the YouTube stream and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream. Choose the stream details and metadata. Scheduling can help viewers plan: YouTube says scheduled streams may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can opt into notifications.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream setup. Enter both in the encoder’s YouTube connection fields. The stream key is a credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it; treat it like a password. Reset it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Set up continuous playback. Configure the encoder or player to repeat the intended prerecorded sequence. Specify what should happen at the end of a file and after a restart or network interruption. Do not assume that a loop or reconnect setting guarantees an uninterrupted 24/7 stream.
- Start a private or otherwise appropriate test. Check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Confirm that the picture and sound are correct and that viewers can access the stream from the channel or watch page and on mobile.
YouTube lists OBS as open-source streaming software among encoder options. The exact playback-loop setup depends on the software and version you choose; test it with your actual files rather than relying on a setting name alone.

Test reliability before announcing a 24/7 stream
Check bandwidth and the public player
YouTube recommends leaving 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the total streaming bitrate. Treat that as operational guidance, not a guarantee: confirm the stream is stable on your connection while other normal network use is happening. During the test, monitor the Live Control Room preview, audio and video, and playback from the channel or watch page and a mobile device. YouTube’s live streaming tips include these checks.
Test failures deliberately
Before relying on the setup unattended, test how it behaves when a source file ends, the encoder process restarts, the host computer reboots, or the network briefly drops. YouTube recommends testing encoder failover for live events, but its public guidance does not guarantee any particular software configuration will maintain a prerecorded loop without interruption.

Verify local recordings
If you record locally, check that the file opens, contains usable audio and video, and continues to grow during the stream. YouTube also recommends checking local archive integrity. An external SSD can be a convenient optional place to keep source files or recordings; YouTube’s guidance does not prescribe a capacity or brand.
Protect the stream from copyright and monetization problems
Licensed content may still trigger a live interruption
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. If you have permission to use third-party material, ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID before relying on it in a continuous stream. Without that step, YouTube says a stream can be interrupted even when you hold a license. An unresolved match may lead to a placeholder or interruption, and the stream can be terminated. Permission alone does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policies say reused content with minimal changes may violate monetization rules even if you have permission. Reused-content policy is separate from copyright enforcement. If you want to apply to or rely on the YouTube Partner Program, make your authorship and original contribution clear; do not assume that looping a stock visual or another creator’s soundtrack will qualify.

Plan for archives and recurring maintenance
Keep a separate archive for a continuous stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a dependable full-day archive. Record locally if you need to preserve the video, and check that the recording is intact. Build a health-check routine
For a continuous channel, adapt YouTube’s live-event checks into a recurring maintenance schedule. Check YouTube’s stream health, the encoder or cloud playback process, network connection, audio continuity, and available storage. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start; for an always-on stream, use those recommendations when launching or recovering an event, then continue monitoring rather than assuming the first successful start is enough.
