An Intel N100 mini PC is a plausible budget starting point for looping prerecorded video on YouTube, but the available evidence does not establish a single best-value model or prove that any specific mini PC can run continuously without interruption. If you want to operate the stream yourself, compare complete India-market quotes and test the exact setup; for a computer-free alternative, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud.

What to buy: start with the Intel N100 class, not an unverified “best” model

Intel’s N100 has four cores and four threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz, Intel UHD Graphics, and Quick Sync Video. Intel lists its processor TDP as 6 W. That figure describes the processor, not the mini PC’s measured electricity use at the wall, and it does not demonstrate a particular system’s streaming performance or 24/7 reliability. Intel Processor N100 specifications.

A specific India-market example is the Thinvent Treo N100, listed in a configuration with 16 GB DDR4 RAM, a 512 GB SSD, gigabit Ethernet, fanless passive cooling, and Ubuntu Linux 24.04 LTS. The examined configuration lists no Wi-Fi and asks buyers to request a quote; it is not evidence of the lowest price or best value. Check the vendor’s current listing and quote for configuration, taxes, OS, warranty, availability, and lead time before ordering. Thinvent Treo N100 product page.

What the listing does—and does not—establish

  • Wired gigabit Ethernet is listed, which makes it a suitable connection option to consider for a fixed streaming setup.
  • The vendor describes passive fanless cooling and reports an operating temperature range of 0–40°C. This is not a guarantee that the PC will remain at a safe temperature in every installation; allow airflow and consider the room’s ambient conditions.
  • The listed 12 V/5 A power adapter rating is not typical power consumption. Ask for measured whole-system power if electricity cost matters.
  • Stock counts and delivery estimates can change. Confirm them directly rather than relying on an older listing.

How to choose a mini PC for continuous streaming

Do not choose on processor TDP or purchase price alone. Compare the full configuration and the recovery behavior of the particular system you plan to run.

Check What to verify before buying
Total price Get a current India quote that includes the selected configuration, OS, taxes, and any delivery charges. The examined Treo listing is quote-based, so a public comparable price is not established.
Memory and storage Confirm the included RAM and SSD capacity, and whether either can be upgraded. The Treo example examined lists 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
Network Check for wired Ethernet and use it where practical. The Treo listing specifies gigabit Ethernet; the examined Ubuntu configuration says it has no Wi-Fi.
Cooling and placement Check the cooling design and operating-environment guidance. A fanless design still needs appropriate placement and airflow.
Power-loss recovery Ask whether the BIOS can automatically boot after power is restored, and how the operating system and streaming software recover after an outage. Do not assume this behavior from the processor model.
Support and endurance evidence Confirm warranty and support terms. Look for a long-duration test using the intended encoder and settings; the cited product information does not establish a 24/7 endurance test.
Actual electricity use Measure whole-system wall consumption in the intended workload if power cost is important. Processor TDP and adapter rating are not substitutes for that measurement.

Plan the stream around your upload connection

YouTube recommends choosing stream quality to fit the upload connection, testing before launch, and monitoring stream health. Its guidance says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” A speed test is a starting check, not a guarantee that your connection will sustain a stream continuously. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Starting encoder settings for H.264

Output YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate
1080p at 30 fps 10 Mbps
1080p at 60 fps 17 Mbps

These are encoder bitrate recommendations, not total household bandwidth guarantees. Leave capacity for normal network use and variation, then test with representative video and audio. YouTube’s guidance also specifies CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (do not exceed four seconds), and RTMP or RTMPS ingest; it recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. The page lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 as supported codecs. Confirm current requirements in YouTube Help when configuring the encoder.

Set up and test a do-it-yourself stream

The precise controls depend on your encoder and operating system. Whatever software you choose, the workflow is to prepare the prerecorded content, configure YouTube ingest and encoding, then test the whole chain before leaving it unattended. The Treo example comes with Ubuntu Linux 24.04 LTS, so confirm that your chosen encoder supports your operating system and workflow before purchase.

  1. Prepare the video and playback plan. Check that you have the rights to stream the recording and that its audio and video play correctly. Decide whether the stream will repeat one file or cycle through a playlist, and test the transition or loop behavior.
  2. Configure the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its stream key and ingest details. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. Use RTMPS when your encoder and ingest configuration support it.
  3. Connect the mini PC to the network and power. Prefer wired Ethernet for a stationary setup if available. If your home or office has power interruptions, consider backup power and ask the PC vendor about automatic restart after power returns.
  4. Set encoder output. Select a resolution and frame rate the source and upload connection can sustain. For H.264, YouTube’s starting recommendations are 10 Mbps at 1080p30 or 17 Mbps at 1080p60; use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, not over four seconds. Enter the YouTube stream key in the encoder’s stream settings.
  5. Run a representative test before launch. Test the actual recording, audio, chosen bitrate, and intended loop or playlist. Watch YouTube’s stream health indicators and correct warnings before relying on the stream.
  6. Verify unattended recovery. Test what happens if the internet connection drops, the encoder exits, or power is interrupted. Confirm whether the software reconnects and whether the machine restarts automatically; these behaviors are not guaranteed by choosing an N100 processor.
  7. Monitor after going live. Check the stream health dashboard and periodically verify that the video, audio, and loop are still working. Continuous availability depends on the PC, power, internet service, encoder recovery, and YouTube ingest—not the mini PC alone.

Copyright and YouTube channel considerations

Only stream recordings, music, images, and other material you have permission to use. A video being prerecorded, publicly viewable, or supplied by someone else does not by itself give you the right to rebroadcast it. Keep records of licenses and permissions, and review YouTube’s current policies for live content and monetization before building a channel around repeated programming. A technical test does not establish that content is permitted or eligible for monetization.

Together with Gigabit LAN, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth, you get a fast, flexible, and productive connected environment – wired or wireless.

Repeated prerecorded programming can also affect how original or valuable a channel appears to viewers and reviewers. Make sure your channel’s presentation and programming comply with YouTube’s policies; do not assume that keeping a stream live makes content eligible for monetization. Use YouTube’s own current policy pages for decisions about your specific channel and content.

Common problems and what to check

  • YouTube reports poor stream health: reduce resolution or frame rate, check upload capacity with a speed test, and verify that the bitrate and keyframe interval match YouTube’s current guidance.
  • The stream disconnects: check the internet connection and encoder logs, then verify reconnect behavior with a deliberate test. A mini PC does not remove internet or YouTube ingest as failure points.
  • The stream does not resume after a power cut: confirm the system’s BIOS power-recovery setting and test it; ask the vendor about automatic boot behavior before purchase.
  • Video stops or fails to loop: test the actual file and playlist transition in advance, and check that the encoder or playback workflow remains active after playback ends.
  • The PC runs hotter than expected: review ambient temperature and placement, improve airflow, and check the vendor’s operating guidance. Passive cooling is not a promise of identical behavior in every environment.
  • The live stream starts but content rights are unclear: stop and verify permissions for every relevant part of the recording before rebroadcasting.
