To create a recurring YouTube stream of cricket gameplay in India, capture a cricket game with OBS or another encoder, connect it to a scheduled YouTube broadcast, test a bitrate your computer and internet connection can sustain, and schedule monitored sessions with a restart plan. “Continuous” is best treated as a repeatable programme, not a promise that one broadcast will run forever: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but does not document reliable archiving for longer streams.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel that is verified and eligible for live streaming. YouTube’s stated minimum age for live streaming is 16; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current YouTube live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance before scheduling.
- A cricket game and a device that can run it while capturing and encoding video. A game’s minimum system requirements are not a guarantee that the same PC can run the game and encode at your chosen quality.
- An encoder such as OBS, which YouTube lists among its software encoders and describes as free and open-source.
- A stable upload connection, microphone if you plan to commentate, and a plan for monitoring the broadcast and restarting after interruptions.
For a concrete PC example, Cricket 24 is listed on Steam as a sports simulation developed by Big Ant Studios and published by Nacon, with a release date of 4 October 2023. The listing gives minimum requirements including Windows 10/11, 8 GB RAM, a listed entry-level GPU, broadband and 60 GB of storage. Check the current storefront listing, platform availability in India and your PC’s suitability before buying; those minimums do not establish that your setup can also encode a stream smoothly. Choose a format that can actually stay on air
PC gameplay with OBS
Using a PC encoder gives you control over game capture, microphone and game audio, overlays and scene changes. It is a flexible route for a commentary-led cricket channel, but the PC, encoder and connection all become part of the live setup. Test them together before promising a schedule.
Console gameplay
YouTube supports console streaming as well as encoder-based streaming. A console’s built-in route may reduce setup steps, while an encoder workflow is more adaptable for overlays and audio control. A capture card is only relevant if you are routing console video through a PC; it is not needed for a PC game or necessarily for a console using its built-in streaming feature.

Horizontal, vertical or both
Horizontal video supports clickable links and live pre- and mid-roll ads. Vertical live streams can appear in the Shorts feed and support some fan-funding features, subject to eligibility. These formats have different discovery and feature trade-offs, not guaranteed reach. Choose the layout for the match presentation and audience experience you want.
Set up YouTube and OBS step by step
- Confirm your channel can stream. Verify the channel, check for live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and activate live streaming in YouTube Studio. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go live, then create or schedule a stream. Set its title, audience and visibility deliberately. YouTube’s encoder workflow provides the server URL and stream key for the encoder.
- Protect the stream key. Copy the key from YouTube Studio into OBS under Settings > Stream, alongside the server information if required by the workflow. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen, publish it, or share it with anyone who should not broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Build the OBS scene. Add a game-capture source for the cricket game, or use display capture if game capture does not work. Add desktop/game audio and a microphone source if you want commentary. Check that the game, overlays and commentary are readable and audible in the preview; mute sources you do not have rights to transmit.
- Choose the encoder settings. Use H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval and RTMPS where available, following YouTube’s encoder settings guidance. For 1080p H.264, YouTube’s recommended bitrate range is 5–14 Mbps at 30 fps and 6–17 Mbps at 60 fps. These are encoder-to-YouTube recommendations, not a promise that an internet connection in India can sustain the selected rate.
- Test before a public match. Run an extended upload test at the time and location you expect to stream. Select a bitrate with room for connection variation, and verify the preview, game sound, microphone, frame delivery and stream health. If frames drop or viewers buffer, lower bitrate, resolution or frame rate and test again.
- Start the broadcast from the encoder. Start streaming in OBS and wait for YouTube Studio to show the incoming preview and a healthy connection. Start the live broadcast in Studio when ready, or follow the scheduled-stream flow displayed there. Confirm the public stream is live before leaving the setup unattended.
Make a recurring schedule instead of relying on one endless broadcast
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If keeping replays matters, schedule separate sessions below that duration rather than relying on a longer session to produce an archive; reliable archiving beyond 12 hours is not documented in YouTube’s guidance. A continuous channel feel can come from a published schedule and repeated blocks, while each broadcast remains bounded and monitorable.

- Set session start and end times and decide who will check audio, video and encoder health.
- Keep a restart plan: who will reconnect OBS, confirm the new preview and announce any interruption to viewers.
- Allow time between blocks to inspect the prior replay, update the next title and verify the correct stream key and scene.
- Do not describe the setup as guaranteed 24/7 uptime. YouTube’s encoder settings are technical recommendations, not an uptime service-level guarantee.
Make the stream original and protect game and audio rights
Gameplay streaming and monetization are separate questions. YouTube says commercial use of game content depends on the publisher’s license. Its Help guidance says, “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” Commentary that explains tactics, controls, match situations or decisions can add instructional or educational value, but it does not itself guarantee acceptance into the YouTube Partner Program or publisher permission.
For Cricket 24, verify Big Ant Studios’ and Nacon’s current terms for streaming and commercial use before planning revenue. No Cricket 24-specific streaming license is established here, so do not assume that gameplay can be monetized just because the game can be streamed.

YouTube states that “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A detected match can lead to a replaced image, interruption or termination. Do not include broadcast footage or unlicensed music. Even licensed material may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel with Content ID; an archived stream can also receive a claim after the live broadcast ends. India’s Copyright Act defines communication to the public broadly to include making works available for public enjoyment by display or diffusion, including at times chosen individually. That statutory context is not a case-specific ruling on gameplay footage or fair dealing. Likewise, the Government of India’s PIB summary of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 describes factors used to classify online money games; it does not determine the legal status of a particular game or every in-game feature. Troubleshoot common stream problems
