After the Premiere, the gaming VOD remains on your channel as a regular upload. Viewers can replay it themselves, but that does not make it stream continuously to your channel.
What happens to a gaming VOD after a Premiere?
A Premiere gives a finished video a scheduled watch page, countdown, and live chat so viewers can watch together. When the event ends, the video stays on the channel as a regular upload. Chat replay may also remain available, but that preserves the chat experience; it does not restart the video as a live broadcast.
Use a Premiere when you want a shared first viewing at a particular time. If you want people to revisit the VOD afterward, direct them to its regular video page.
Can you loop a Premiere?
You can loop the video after the Premiere, but looping is a playback choice for an individual viewer. YouTube provides Loop or Repeat controls for videos and playlists on supported computer, mobile, TV, and gaming-console interfaces. Each viewer controls their own playback; the setting does not turn the video into a channel-wide live stream.

How to broadcast gaming content continuously instead
For a channel-wide live broadcast, use YouTube Live and send the feed through an encoder. YouTube describes encoder streaming as a common approach for gameplay and overlays. The video source and production setup determine what equipment you need; YouTube does not make a capture card universally mandatory.
- Choose the source. Decide whether you are broadcasting gameplay live or sending a prepared VOD as the stream’s video feed. A capture card may be useful when your setup needs to capture a separate console or video source, but it is not required just to schedule a Premiere or loop a video.
- Set up a live stream in YouTube Studio. Create or schedule a live stream and use its stream key with your encoder. Treat the key as private: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to that stream. YouTube’s exact interface and available options can change, so follow the current Studio prompts for your account.
- Configure and start the encoder. Select the intended gameplay or VOD feed, add any overlays you need, and connect the encoder to the YouTube stream using the stream key. YouTube’s guidance describes encoder workflows for gameplay and says expensive equipment is not necessary to begin; professional-grade hardware encoders are recommended for higher-production events, not as a universal requirement.
- Check the live preview and stream status. Confirm that the intended picture and sound are reaching YouTube before directing viewers to the live watch page. Keep the encoder and its source running for as long as you want that feed to continue; a continuous broadcast is a live-stream setup, not an automatic restart of the Premiere VOD.
What live-stream playback features do—and do not—do
- Stream replay: YouTube may post a live-stream replay as a video after the stream ends. That replay is a recording, not a restart of the live broadcast.
- DVR: DVR controls let viewers pause or rewind a live stream when available. YouTube Help says rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours; this does not make a Premiere repeat.
- Live Redirect: YouTube’s Live Redirect can send viewers from an ended live stream to a Premiere or another live stream. It is an audience transition, not a way to keep a Premiere looping. Eligibility requirements apply, so check YouTube’s current Help instructions before building a workflow around it.
