You can move a 24/7 aarti stream off a local PC by running its encoder on a VPS instead. The VPS takes over the encoding and connection to the streaming platform; it does not remove the need for an encoder. Keep OBS if your production depends on scenes, overlays, or live sources. If the stream is simply prerecorded media playing continuously, a headless FFmpeg workflow may be a better fit. First identify what your stream needs, then build and test the remote setup before cutting over.
Choose the right replacement for your current setup
A VPS is a remote computer. It can keep an encoder running without your home PC staying on, but it still needs the software, media, network capacity, and configuration required to produce and send the stream. OBS explains that its connection goes directly from the computer running OBS to the streaming service (OBS Help).

Inventory the production before moving it
Write down what the local PC currently does. This prevents a common migration mistake: copying the encoder but leaving an essential source, audio route, or overlay behind.

- Source: prerecorded recording, playlist, live camera or microphone, or a mix of these.
- OBS elements: scenes, source files, overlays, transitions, audio routing, and any browser or capture sources.
- Output: current resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and ingest protocol.
- Operations: scheduled restarts, recovery behavior after an encoder or connection failure, and who can access the system remotely.
- Archive needs: whether you need a complete recording of the continuous broadcast, separate recordings, or no archive.
The title alone does not establish whether a particular aarti stream uses YouTube, OBS, a prerecorded loop, a specific bitrate, or a particular server. Treat these as decisions to verify for your own setup.
Size and select the VPS for the actual workload
Do not choose a server based on a generic claim that any VPS can stream 24/7. Compare its sustained outbound transfer and network stability, CPU or GPU encoding capacity, storage for media, region, recovery provisions, remote administration, and total cost. The sources available here do not establish a current provider, plan, price, or universal uptime figure.

A prerecorded file loop and a multi-source OBS production can have different compute and storage needs. If you plan to encode on the VPS, verify that it can sustain the settings you intend to use. If media is stored there, allow for the assets and any operational copies you need. Select a region with the network path to your chosen ingest service in mind, then test the actual output rather than assuming the connection will be stable.
Prepare the remote encoder
If you use OBS
- Install OBS on the VPS and arrange a way to access its interface remotely if your workflow requires one.
- Recreate or transfer the scenes and assets the stream uses. Check that local file paths point to files present on the VPS.
- Review each source. A camera, microphone, capture device, or other peripheral connected to the old PC will not automatically become a device connected to the VPS. Replace it with a source the remote setup can actually access, or keep the production on a machine that has the required live input.
- Set the encoder output to match the production you intend to send, including the existing resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and protocol unless you have a reason to change them. There is no universal bitrate established for this stream; test the selected value against the VPS connection.
If you use FFmpeg for prerecorded media
- Transfer the recording or playlist assets to the VPS and confirm that the chosen FFmpeg setup can read the formats and audio tracks involved.
- Configure the intended continuous-play or loop behavior and verify it with the actual media. Confirm that audio and video continue across the transition between items or loop cycles.
- Choose and validate the audio/video encoding and output settings for the platform ingest you will use. The cited VPS guide discusses an FFmpeg approach, but it does not establish a configuration that is guaranteed to work with every file, server, or account.
- Decide how the process should be monitored and restarted if it exits. A VPS by itself does not guarantee recovery after an encoder, host, network, or platform interruption.
Connect the VPS encoder to YouTube
If YouTube is your destination, its encoder instructions say to configure the live server URL and stream key in the encoder, start the encoder, and check the live output (YouTube encoder instructions).

- In YouTube’s live control room, select or create the intended stream or event and obtain its ingest URL and stream key.
- Enter the correct URL and key in the VPS encoder. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to that stream.
- Confirm that the selected event or stream is the one you mean to use before starting the encoder.
- Start the remote output and check the platform preview or playback as well as the encoder’s status.
Moving to a VPS does not require changing protocols. If you intentionally choose HLS ingestion, follow YouTube’s HLS encoder guidance: it describes higher latency than RTMP, requires a TS segment format and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and specifies segment durations of 1–4 seconds. It also lists supported video and audio formats. Those are HLS-specific requirements, not general VPS migration settings.
Test, cut over, and keep a rollback path
- Run a controlled test. Check the remote encoder status and the platform preview or playback. Listen for missing, distorted, or out-of-sync audio and watch for interruptions in video.
- Check connection stability. OBS’s connection troubleshooting guidance says dropped frames point to an unstable connection to the ingest server or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; it suggests trying another server or lowering the bitrate (OBS Help). Change one relevant setting at a time and test again.
- Start the VPS output first. Confirm that the destination is receiving the intended picture and sound before you stop the local encoder.
- Stop the local output after the remote feed is confirmed. Avoid sending duplicate feeds to the same event. Keep the local setup available as a practical rollback until the remote stream has been observed long enough to establish that it works for your needs.
- Observe after cutover. Check the stream and encoder periodically, especially after any server, media, or configuration change. A VPS does not itself prove that the process will recover from every failure.
Plan continuous playback and archives separately
A running encoder and a complete archive are different requirements. YouTube’s cited encoder page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume one uninterrupted 24/7 session will produce a complete archive. Check YouTube’s current behavior for your account and plan separately for preserving long-form recordings if you need them. The page’s publication date is not shown, so verify the current platform guidance before relying on that policy.

Also decide how you will handle interruptions: who will notice a stopped feed, what access is available to restart it, and whether you need a backup source or process. Neither a VPS nor a protocol choice alone establishes end-to-end recovery.
