Castr’s published limit for a single pre-recorded video is 1 hour on Starter, 2 hours on Standard, and 4 hours on Premium, Ultra, or Events. The four-hour limit applies to each uploaded file—not to the total length of a looping playlist. Castr lists infinite looping on Premium and higher, allowing a playlist to continue as a live broadcast.
How Castr’s pre-recorded video limits work
Castr’s plan comparison distinguishes the maximum duration of each uploaded file from playlist size, storage, simultaneous streams, and looping. These published limits were accessed on October 3, 2026, and plan features can change. Check Castr’s pricing page for current details before choosing a plan.

“Maximum per file” is the relevant figure if you are checking whether one documentary or other recording can be uploaded as a single asset. If it exceeds your plan’s cap, the published plan table does not explain a method for bypassing that cap; do not assume that dividing or editing a file will preserve the intended broadcast without checking the workflow.
Does a four-hour file limit prevent 24/7 streaming?
No. The four-hour figure is a per-file maximum. Castr lists infinite loop on Premium, Ultra, and Events, and describes loop mode as continuous playback. Its workflow can combine multiple uploaded videos into a playlist, then loop or schedule them. So a playlist can run continuously even though each constituent file must fit the plan’s individual duration limit.

Starter and Standard do not include infinite loop in Castr’s published comparison. Those plans still support pre-recorded streaming, but the table does not establish continuous looping as an included feature on them.
How Castr sends a pre-recorded video to YouTube
Castr’s cloud-based workflow schedules uploaded MP4 files as a live stream to connected destinations, including YouTube. Castr says the cloud plays the file, so this method does not require a local encoder or OBS to keep the video running. Its Help Center describes uploading one or more videos and scheduling a broadcast; consult Castr Help Center for the current setup steps and available scheduling controls.

Keep the Castr file cap separate from YouTube’s archive rules
Castr’s file-duration limit is not the same as YouTube’s handling of a livestream archive. A Google-hosted production guide says streams up to 12 hours long are automatically turned into video-on-demand, while streams longer than 12 hours should be recorded by the team for manual upload. The guide’s publication date is not established, so verify current YouTube Help guidance before relying on that archive threshold. It does not change Castr’s maximum uploaded-file duration.
