You can create a 24/7 acoustic guitar stream on YouTube by sending either a live guitar performance or a continuous playlist of recordings through an encoder, with a visual feed and a plan for interruptions. For a recordings-based radio stream, the key prerequisites are YouTube Live access, rights that cover continuous streaming (and any replay), and a computer or cloud service that keeps the playback and encoder running.
Choose between live performance and a recordings-based radio stream

YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for customized productions and hardware such as microphones and preamps. A USB audio interface can be useful for the live-performance route if you need to feed a microphone or preamp into a computer; it is not inherently required to loop existing recordings. Make sure the channel can go live
- Verify the channel. YouTube says a channel must be verified to live stream.
- Check restrictions. YouTube’s stated eligibility guidance requires no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream.
- Connect your encoder. Use the stream settings YouTube provides in the Live Control Room to connect your chosen encoder. YouTube lists encoder as one of its live-streaming methods.
Eligibility and controls can change, so follow the current instructions in YouTube Help if the Studio interface differs.
Build a continuous audio-and-visual feed
For a live performance
Connect the guitar microphone or instrument/preamp chain to your audio input, then route that audio into an encoder. Check the sound at the encoder and in YouTube’s preview before going public. Arrange performance coverage and monitoring for the full period you intend to broadcast; a live performer cannot be replaced by a playlist unless you deliberately switch workflows.

For a recordings-based radio stream
Arrange recordings you are authorized to broadcast into a continuous playback source, and pair it with an appropriate visual feed. The playback system and encoder must both remain available for the stream to continue. Keep a computer or hosted environment running, maintain a stable network path, monitor the output, and have a way to restart playback or encoding if either stops.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes HLS and DASH ingestion for encoder vendors. Those low-level protocols are not necessary for every creator using an off-the-shelf encoder; follow the current instructions for your chosen encoder and YouTube setup. The available guidance here does not establish one complete, current set of bitrate, resolution, codec, keyframe, or command-line settings for every guitar stream, so do not assume a universal preset.

Clear music rights before you launch
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, warning, temporary interruption, or termination. Even when you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the live stream to proceed without an automated interruption. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
For protected music, YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor. Ask specifically whether your permissions cover continuous live streaming and any archived replay, and whether the channel needs Content ID allowlisting. - A personal music-streaming subscription does not, by itself, establish broadcast permission.
Rights and licensing rules can vary by territory and by the specific recordings and uses involved. Confirm permissions with the relevant rights holders rather than assuming one rule applies to every country or track.
Test the stream and plan for interruptions
- Run a controlled test before promoting the broadcast.
- Confirm the intended guitar audio and visual are reaching YouTube and appear as expected in Live Control Room.
- Check that the playback source and encoder continue operating, and identify how you will notice if either stops.
- Prepare a restart path for the source or encoder, and decide who will respond to disconnections or copyright interruptions.
A local setup depends on the computer, network, playback source, and encoder remaining available. A hosted environment can keep the source running without relying on a home computer, but hosting and monitoring add operational costs. No setup can guarantee that YouTube will keep a broadcast uninterrupted.
