YouTube Live Streaming Disabled After Changing an Indian Channel’s Country: What to Check

YouTube does not identify changing a channel’s country to India as a reason live streaming is disabled. Check the account’s verification, restrictions and Studio notices to find the channel-specific issue.

Changing a YouTube channel’s country to India is not listed by YouTube as a reason that live streaming is disabled. YouTube says the country/region setting is relevant to YouTube Partner Program eligibility; its general live-streaming prerequisites are channel verification and no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. Those are separate stated purposes, but YouTube’s public help pages do not explain the cause of a restriction on any individual channel. Check the channel’s eligibility and notices in YouTube Studio before changing equipment or assuming the country change caused the problem.

Does changing the channel country to India disable live streaming?

YouTube’s documentation does not say that changing a channel’s country to India disables live streaming. Its channel settings page says the selected country or region is relevant to YouTube Partner Program eligibility, while its live-streaming guidance lists verification and a clean 90-day live-stream restriction history as general prerequisites. YouTube’s channel settings guidance and live-streaming eligibility guidance describe different requirements.

That distinction does not prove the country change had no connection to a particular account issue. Your channel’s notices, verification state, feature eligibility and restriction history are account-specific; public help pages cannot identify which one applies to you. Treat the country setting as one fact to verify, not as a confirmed cause.

Check the channel’s live-stream eligibility first

  1. Confirm the country or region setting. In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Channel and check the selected country/region. YouTube identifies this setting as relevant to Partner Program eligibility, not as a live-stream on/off control.
  2. Check verification and feature status. YouTube’s general live-stream requirements include a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Look in Studio’s channel feature eligibility and live controls for whether the feature is enabled or a restriction is displayed.
  3. Read Studio notifications and email. Look for a message that names a policy or copyright issue, explains a restriction, or provides appeal instructions. YouTube lists policy and copyright events among possible restriction causes; the notice is more useful than guessing from the country setting.
  4. Identify how you are trying to stream. The 50-subscriber threshold applies to mobile live streaming, not to every streaming method. If you are trying to stream from a phone or tablet, check the additional requirements below.
  5. Use the account’s appeal or support route if shown. If Studio identifies a restriction you believe is mistaken, follow the appeal instructions attached to that notice. YouTube’s public help pages cannot promise restoration or determine an individual channel’s cause.

Separate mobile requirements from general live streaming

YouTube’s mobile live-streaming instructions set a separate threshold: at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days, and live streaming turned on. After enabling the feature for the first mobile stream, it may take up to 24 hours to become available. The subscriber threshold is for mobile; do not assume it applies to streaming from an encoder or another method. See YouTube’s mobile live-stream instructions for the current requirements.

India appears on YouTube’s list of countries where eligible creators can stream Playables on mobile. That specific feature listing does not establish a general rule that a channel’s country setting determines ordinary live-stream access.

Understand restrictions and timing

YouTube’s general eligibility rule is that a channel must have had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. This is a look-back condition, not a claim that every suspension lasts 90 days. YouTube separately says a live-stream strike prevents streaming for 14 days. A strike’s stated duration and the 90-day eligibility window are different rules; check the notice on your account to see what restriction applies and when.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0

YouTube’s current general live-stream guidance also says creators must be at least 16 years old. If the channel is restricted, do not try to get around the restriction by streaming through another channel: YouTube prohibits bypassing an active restriction.

If Studio still says live streaming is disabled

  • No notice and no clear reason: Check Studio’s feature eligibility and live controls again, then use account support or an appeal route if one is available. Only YouTube can confirm the channel-specific cause.
  • A policy or copyright notice appears: Read the notice and follow its stated appeal or resolution process. Do not infer that the country change triggered it unless YouTube’s account notice says so.
  • Only mobile streaming is unavailable: Verify that the channel meets the mobile subscriber threshold and other mobile requirements, and allow up to 24 hours after first enabling the feature.
  • You are considering new equipment: A phone, webcam, encoder or computer cannot restore account eligibility or remove a platform restriction. Resolve the account issue before troubleshooting hardware.
