Before you begin, clear the rights to every recording and visual, enable live streaming on your channel, and decide how you will handle interruptions and archives. A 24/7 schedule does not require one stream event to run indefinitely—and one very long event may not be archived.
Choose a way to run the channel
For a channel built around pre-produced bhajans, devotional music, or video, an encoder workflow is the most relevant YouTube method: it sends a prepared feed to YouTube using a stream URL and stream key. YouTube supports software encoders and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events; dedicated hardware is not required for every creator.
- Playlist or pre-produced feed: Use an encoder to send the prepared programme to YouTube Live. Plan how someone will monitor the feed and respond to problems.
- Hands-on broadcast: YouTube also lists mobile, webcam, and console methods. These suit camera-led or simpler productions better than a continuous playlist-driven channel.
- Cloud playback: A cloud service can play uploaded videos without leaving a home computer running. StreamNeo is one such option; its workflow and limits are described below.
Choose based on who will operate the channel, how you will recover the feed, whether you need YouTube to archive each event, and whether the programme is original or fully licensed. None of these choices removes the need to clear rights.
Clear rights for every recording and visual
A devotional composition or traditional melody is not the same thing as permission to use a particular recording. A modern performance, arrangement, sound recording, photograph, animation, or video can have its own rights holders. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can result in a placeholder on the stream, an interruption, or termination. A rightsholder may need to allowlist a licensed channel through Content ID.

Make a rights ledger before building the playlist
For each audio track, record the composition, performer, arrangement, owner of the sound recording, permission or licence evidence, territories covered, licence term, intended YouTube uses, monetization scope, and Content ID contact or allowlisting status. Track visual assets separately, including photographs, animations, and third-party footage.
Keep signed agreements, invoices, permission emails, and performer or session consents together. Ask the rights holder in writing whether the permission covers continuous livestreaming, YouTube monetization, all intended territories, the planned term, and Content ID allowlisting. This documentation process is not a complete explanation of Indian copyright or broadcast law. Enable YouTube Live and prepare the stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube requires channel verification, no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and a streamer aged 16 or older. If this is the channel’s first live stream, YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming at least 24 hours before going live.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create the stream there and select the encoder workflow for a prepared feed.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the encoder. Treat the key like a password: limit who can access it and use YouTube’s reset option if it is exposed.
- Check the event before starting. Review the preview, source, visibility, title, description, and schedule. Confirm the intended feed is reaching the Live Control Room before you make the event public.
- Test the operating plan. Check the audio and video, monitor stream quality, and decide who will respond to encoder, network, power, or rights interruptions. YouTube’s streaming tips advise checking the preview, testing the stream and backup encoder, checking local archive files, and monitoring quality.
There is no single bitrate, resolution, or keyframe setting established here for every encoder, source file, and connection. Use the encoder and YouTube’s current on-screen guidance for your setup; do not assume that a setting that works for one production is appropriate for another.

Plan continuous programming and recoveries
“24/7” describes when viewers can find programming, not a requirement to make one YouTube event last forever. Decide in advance how the feed will be monitored and restarted, who can access the encoder and stream key, and what the audience will see if the feed stops. Where continuity matters, plan backups for the encoder, power, and network, and retain local recordings.
There is no verified uptime figure for a particular setup. Do not promise uninterrupted service unless you have an operating and recovery plan that supports the claim. After launch, confirm the event appears on the channel and watch page, and check both the live output and any saved local files.

Decide whether YouTube’s archive matters
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. If discoverable replays matter, schedule shorter events and keep local recordings rather than relying on a single all-day broadcast to produce a complete archive.
Set a restart cadence your team can monitor and recover. Shorter events make archive planning more predictable, but still require the rights, encoder, and monitoring arrangements described above.

Make the devotional programme original and useful
Cleared content is necessary, but it does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies also apply to livestreams and say that original, authentic content is eligible; repetitive or mass-produced “inauthentic content” may not be. Similar formats can be acceptable when individual items materially vary and offer creative, educational, or other viewer value.

Consider original performances, live prayer or commentary, contextual introductions, or genuinely differentiated programming by time of day. Make sure each contribution is itself cleared for the way you plan to use it. A loop of third-party tracks with only superficial changes may present both rights and monetization problems.

YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible livestream revenue paths. Their availability depends on channel eligibility and settings, and YouTube does not guarantee that ads will be served. Do not estimate a channel’s earnings from its hours live or from broad platform statistics.
In an announcement dated 7 July 2026, YouTube said Gifts were launching in India. The same announcement reported that 92% of surveyed Indian YouTube creators agreed that the platform helps them foster a deep community with their audience, and that the number of YouTube channels earning seven figures or more in INR revenue had grown by over 20% year over year. These are platform-level figures, not an earnings forecast or eligibility promise for a new devotional channel.
