Yes. YouTube can consider clips from your own livestream under its reused-content monetization policy. Owning or having uploaded the original does not guarantee approval. What matters is whether the clips add significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value—and whether reviewers can clearly identify your contribution in the context of your channel.
Why your own clips can still be reviewed
YouTube defines reused content as material already available on YouTube or another online source that is repurposed without significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value. Its channel monetization policies cover live streams as well as long-form videos and Shorts, so clips taken from your own livestream are within scope.
The policy does not set out a blanket exemption for material from the same creator’s channel. It also does not say that self-clipping alone is automatically a violation. Review is context-dependent: the source recording’s ownership is relevant to authorship, but it does not by itself show what the clip adds for viewers.
What makes a clip’s original contribution clearer
YouTube gives examples of potentially eligible transformations such as critical reviews, reactions with commentary, edits that add a storyline and commentary, and substantive editing. These are examples, not guarantees. Applied to clips from your own livestream, the practical question is whether each excerpt has a clear purpose and meaningful contribution beyond reproducing a segment.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- More clearly transformed: you add narration or explanation, critique the moment, place it in a new structure, or make substantive edits that help viewers understand or interpret it.
- Less clear: you post minimally changed excerpts, repeat near-identical segments, or provide little context that shows why the clips offer distinct value.
This is a way to assess risk using YouTube’s published examples, not a pass/fail test. A clip need not follow one prescribed format, and no particular amount of editing is stated as an automatic threshold.
Reviewers look at the channel, not only one clip
YouTube says reused-content review applies to the channel as a whole. Reviewers may consider how creators created, participated in, or produced the content, and may examine videos, the channel description, titles, and descriptions. The review can also focus on the channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, the largest share of watch time, metadata, and the About section.

Make authorship and the purpose of your edits understandable across the channel. Accurate titles and descriptions and a useful About section can provide context, but metadata cannot substitute for meaningful original contribution in the videos. If reviewers find a policy violation or cannot clearly tell that you made the content, monetization may be removed from the entire channel.
Reused content is not the same as copyright infringement
YouTube treats reused-content monetization eligibility separately from copyright enforcement. Permission to use material, a fair-use position, or the absence of a copyright claim does not settle whether a channel meets the reused-content policy. Conversely, a reused-content decision is not itself a finding that you infringed copyright. You may need to consider both issues, but resolving one does not resolve the other.

What changed in July 2025—and what did not
YouTube’s July 15, 2025 policy notice renamed its former “repetitious content” policy as “inauthentic content” and clarified that it covers repetitive or mass-produced content. The notice says the reused-content policy was unchanged; it continues to cover formats including commentary, clips, compilations, and reaction videos. TeamYouTube likewise said on July 10, 2025 that the update was not a new policy and that reused-content policies were unchanged. See the current YouTube channel monetization policies and the July 2025 TeamYouTube response.
If YouTube disables monetization
- Open YouTube Studio and check the Earn section for the specific policy issue and available next steps.
- Follow the option shown for your channel status. YouTube says creators may be able to appeal within 21 days or reapply 90 days after suspension, depending on the case and the option available.
- Read the current YouTube guidance for disabled monetization alongside the notice in Studio, since the route depends on your status.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your clips are part of a YouTube channel you keep live with prerecorded video, StreamNeo can run that stream from the cloud:
