In the product formerly called Wowza Streaming Cloud—now named Wowza Video—you can schedule an existing live stream from its details page under Schedules, then monitor its source and processing through Stream Health or the account-level Monitor page. After the broadcast, use historical health sessions and Analytics for different kinds of review: stream diagnostics versus audience and delivery context.
What changed from Wowza Streaming Cloud?
Wowza renamed Streaming Cloud to Wowza Video. The instructions below use the current product name and current documentation; older Streaming Cloud guides and legacy pages may show a different interface. Wowza explains the name change.
Schedule an existing live stream
Open the stream’s live stream details page and select Schedules. This tab shows schedules configured when the stream was created and lets you add schedules after creation. Wowza documents one-time start and stop, one-time start or stop, and recurring schedules. For one-time schedules, select the intended Time zone; do not assume the operator’s or viewer’s local time zone is the one you want.
Choose the schedule pattern
- One-time start and stop: Set both endpoints when the stream should run for a defined event window.
- One-time start or stop: Schedule just the start or just the stop when the other action is handled separately.
- Recurring schedule: Choose the days of the week and when the recurrence takes effect and ends.
For a simpler future-start workflow, Wowza calls the option Go live later: schedule the stream to start on a future day and time. The exact setup depends on whether you are scheduling from the stream details page or using this future-start workflow. See Wowza’s live stream details documentation and overview of a live stream in Wowza Video.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Automate schedules through the API
For programmatic operation, the Wowza Video REST API reference documents schedules that start and/or stop a live stream or transcoder once or repeatedly. Its schedule operations include creating, listing or retrieving, updating, enabling, disabling, checking state, and deleting schedules. This is an API route rather than a click-by-click UI workflow; use the API reference for the relevant request details and authorization requirements.
Monitor a stream while it is live
Stream details and Stream Health
On the live-stream details page, the real-time preview and statistics cover connection, transcoding, and delivery. Wowza says the details-page metrics refresh every 10 seconds. The Stream Health view graphs source connection and transcoding information, including actual inbound bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and frame size. Inbound bitrate is the rate actually arriving from the source and can differ from the bitrate configured at the encoder.

Use these values to diagnose what Wowza is receiving and processing; they are not the same as audience analytics. A health graph is diagnostic evidence, not a complete record of every moment: Wowza’s legacy health guidance warns that brief irregularities might not register between refreshes.
Account-level Monitor page
The documented account-level Monitor page gives an at-a-glance view of up to three active streams. Its listed details include inbound connection status, actual inbound bitrate, frame size, frame rate, keyframe interval, unique-viewer counts, and a link to an individual stream’s health view. Wowza’s Monitor documentation is marked legacy, so confirm the exact navigation and labels in your current account. It also says updates pause when the page loses focus and resume when it regains focus. See the Monitor page documentation.

Review health and audience data after the broadcast
Historical stream health
From the live-stream details documentation, select a health session by start time and duration; you can narrow the selection by date and time. Health sessions for a given stream are documented as visible for the last 90 days. Review the incoming bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and frame-size behavior to investigate source or processing conditions. The 90-day availability statement comes from Wowza’s current details documentation, updated 2026-02-23.
Analytics for audience and delivery context
Wowza Video Analytics covers information such as viewers, devices, renditions, countries, and popularity, and supports CSV export. Current Analytics documentation says the page auto-updates every 60 seconds. Its unique-viewer definitions depend on identifiers such as IP address and user agent, so a unique-viewer count should not automatically be treated as equivalent across different products or reports. Consult Wowza’s Analytics page documentation, updated 2025-02-28.

| Where to look | What it helps answer | Documented refresh or history |
|---|---|---|
| Live-stream details and Stream Health | Is the source connected, and how are incoming video and processing behaving? | Details-page metrics refresh every 10 seconds; health sessions are documented for the last 90 days. |
| Account-level Monitor page | What is the at-a-glance status of active streams? | Legacy documentation says it can show up to three active streams; updates pause when the page loses focus. |
| Analytics | What audience, device, rendition, country, and popularity context is available? | Current Analytics documentation says it auto-updates every 60 seconds. |
Common interpretation mistakes
- Configured bitrate versus actual inbound bitrate: The health view reports the actual incoming rate; it may not match the encoder’s configured setting.
- Health versus Analytics: Health focuses on source connection and transcoding measures. Analytics provides audience and delivery context; one does not substitute for the other.
- Different refresh intervals: The 10-second details-page refresh and 60-second Analytics refresh apply to different pages. The legacy health guidance gives a separate 20-second graph interval, not a universal refresh rate.
- Missing short glitch: A brief interruption may not appear in a graph sampled between refreshes, so absence of a visible spike is not proof that no interruption happened.
- Legacy labels: An older Streaming Cloud guide describes schedule statuses such as Enabled, Disabled, and Expired. Treat those as historical context, not guaranteed current Wowza Video labels.
Source options and schedule choice
Wowza says it accepts video from nearly any encoder or IP camera, but that broad statement does not establish compatibility for a particular camera model. Verify the exact camera and workflow before relying on it. For schedules, use one-time start/stop settings for a bounded event, recurring schedules for repeated days, and the API when schedule creation or lifecycle management needs automation. These are workflow distinctions, not a vendor comparison or performance ranking.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is specifically to keep a prerecorded YouTube channel live around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Your video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not a camera-based live broadcast. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
