To keep a pre-recorded playlist playing continuously on YouTube through Castr, create a Pre-Recorded Stream, add and order your MP4 videos, choose Loop, connect YouTube as the destination, and start the stream. Use Castr’s separate TV Playout feature instead if you need a dated timetable, timed program starts, live inserts, or scheduled breaks.
Choose the right Castr workflow

These are distinct Castr features with separate controls and plan limits. A playlist that should simply repeat is not the same as a schedule that must begin at a particular hour or move between different programs.
Set up a continuous playlist with Pre-Recorded Streams
- Open Pre-Recorded Streams. In the Castr Dashboard, open Pre-Recorded Streams and create a new stream.
- Add your videos. Upload files or select recorded videos already in your Castr library. Castr’s guide, dated July 8, 2026, says this workflow currently supports MP4 files.
- Arrange the playlist. Reorder the entries and disable any you do not want included. Castr says the displayed total duration updates as you change the playlist.
- Choose Loop. Select Loop as the scheduling mode to repeat the playlist. Castr’s scheduling guide says Infinite Loop starts immediately when enabled; a scheduled start is a separate mode.
- Connect YouTube. Add YouTube as the destination, authenticate or choose a saved platform connection, and make sure its toggle is on. Castr’s YouTube-specific instructions describe using YouTube Events and choosing a new event or an existing one.
- Start and check the destination. Start the Castr stream, then confirm YouTube is receiving it. Check the selected event in YouTube Studio and verify the channel is ready to broadcast; Castr’s instructions do not establish that every YouTube account is eligible or ready.
The YouTube-specific instructional article was first published December 21, 2024, and updated March 24, 2026. Dashboard labels can change, so follow the current controls shown in your account if they differ from an older guide.

- Create a Livestream destination first. Set up the destination that will deliver the channel to YouTube.
- Choose Schedule or Loop. Schedule plays items consecutively according to the timetable. Loop repeats a playlist and requires an end date; its maximum duration depends on the plan.
- Set the broadcast date and time. Confirm the time zone displayed in the dashboard before relying on a timed start.
- Add program items. Add VOD files, Live-to-VOD items, livestreams, and optional breaks in the order you want them to play.
- Use breaks to bridge to a target start. For a program that must begin at a specific time, insert a break to fill the gap. Castr’s scheduling guide gives an example of ending a break one second before the next program’s target start. The setup guide says breaks must be at least two minutes long.
- Apply the schedule. Click Set Schedule. After editing an active schedule, apply the changes with this control. Check the resulting schedule and time zone before activating it.
Castr says the item currently on air cannot be replaced or moved while live. Plan edits around that restriction, and check the dashboard’s displayed schedule before making changes to an active channel.
Check media and plan limits before committing
- Pre-Recorded Streams: Castr’s current product page lists two files per stream on Starter and Standard, ten on Premium, and fifteen on Ultra. It says infinite looping is available on Premium and higher. File-size and number-of-file limits vary by subscription.
- TV Playout: Its limits are separate from Pre-Recorded Stream limits. Castr’s product page lists Premium loops of up to 15 days and Ultra and Events loops of up to 30 days; it directs longer runs to sales.
- Confirm current terms: These are Castr-published plan limits displayed on October 3, 2026, and may change. Check the current product and plan details before choosing a subscription; do not apply TV Playout limits to a Pre-Recorded Stream or vice versa.
- Check the scheduler’s time zone: Castr’s April 24, 2026 scheduling guide says the scheduler uses the same time zone as your device. Verify the zone and displayed start time in the dashboard.
- Check YouTube account readiness: Castr documents the destination connection, but not eligibility or current restrictions for an individual YouTube account. Confirm your channel’s status and event settings in YouTube Studio.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
