Austin “Chumlee” Russell of Pawn Stars pleaded guilty in 2016 to a felony weapon charge and misdemeanor attempted drug possession. The case began with a search during a sexual-assault investigation, but Russell was not charged with sexual assault. Contemporary reports said his plea deal required counseling and three years of probation, with the felony eligible for dismissal if he stayed out of trouble through 2019.
What happened to Chumlee from Pawn Stars?
On March 9, 2016, police searched Russell’s Las Vegas home under a warrant connected to a sexual-assault investigation. The Associated Press reported that officers found methamphetamine, marijuana and at least one gun. Russell was arrested on drug- and weapon-related allegations.
The case’s charges changed between the arrest and the plea. The AP’s initial report listed 19 drug-possession charges and one weapon charge, with bail set at $62,000. Those were arrest-stage allegations, not the charges Russell later admitted in court.
What was Chumlee charged with, and what did he plead to?
On May 25, 2016, Russell pleaded guilty to a felony weapon charge and misdemeanor attempted drug possession, according to AP reporting republished by Fox News. The plea charges were narrower and different from the initial list reported after his arrest.

What did the plea deal require?
Contemporary AP reports said the agreement required Russell to receive counseling and complete three years of probation. The felony weapon charge would be dismissed if he stayed out of trouble through 2019; if he violated the agreement, the reported potential sentence on that charge was two to five years in state prison. These reports describe the deal’s terms, not a later independently verified court disposition.
Was Chumlee charged with sexual assault?
No sexual-assault charge was reported as filed against Russell. The search warrant arose from a sexual-assault investigation, but the March AP report said he was not booked on a sex-crime allegation, and the May coverage said no charge was filed in that case. The investigation’s connection to the search should not be confused with the weapon and drug charges resolved by his plea.

What is known about the case’s later record?
The 2016 reports establish the plea date and the conditions described at the time. They do not independently confirm what happened to the felony charge in the court record after the agreement’s conditions were completed. Accordingly, the reported conditional dismissal should not be presented as a verified current docket status.
After the proposed deal was reported, Russell’s defense attorney David Chesnoff said he was “gratified that a thorough investigation by both the police and the defense can lead to a just result.” Chesnoff also said the case would end, with court approval, without any allegation of sexual assault; that was counsel’s statement, not a judicial finding.
