To schedule a YouTube stream in StreamYard, create a live stream, choose your connected YouTube channel, enter the broadcast details, select Schedule for Later, set the date and time, and create it. That schedules the YouTube event; for a regular StreamYard studio broadcast, you must still open the studio at showtime and click Go Live.
Before you schedule
- Make sure live streaming is enabled on your YouTube channel. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. See YouTube’s livestreaming requirements.
- Connect the YouTube channel to StreamYard. You can do this during setup if it is not already connected.
- Choose a start time and prepare your title, description, privacy setting, and—if you want one—a thumbnail.
Schedule the YouTube stream in StreamYard
- In StreamYard, open Home and select Live Stream under Create.
- Select your YouTube channel as the destination. If it is not listed, choose Add a destination and connect it.
- Enter the stream title and description, then choose the appropriate privacy setting.
- Select Schedule for Later, choose the date and start time, and create the stream.
- For the YouTube-specific workflow, select the scheduled option before uploading a thumbnail. StreamYard’s help article reports YouTube’s recommended thumbnail size as 1280 × 720 pixels; this is a recommendation, not a requirement for scheduling.
- Optionally select Schedule an announcement if you want to publish a channel post promoting the stream.
StreamYard’s labels may change. If the controls differ from these steps, check the current options in your account and StreamYard’s live-stream setup instructions.
Does a scheduled StreamYard studio stream start automatically?
No. Scheduling creates a YouTube post for the upcoming broadcast, but it does not start a normal live studio show. At the scheduled time, enter the StreamYard studio and click Go Live. YouTube’s scheduled watch page and reminder help viewers prepare; they do not replace that action.
If you need the video to start while you are away
StreamYard has a separate prerecorded-stream workflow. Its help page says a scheduled prerecorded video goes live at the selected time even if you are offline. That automatic start applies to the prerecorded feature, not a regular studio broadcast. See StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream instructions and confirm the available controls in your account.

Find and share the scheduled YouTube watch page
In StreamYard, open the three-dot menu beside the upcoming broadcast and select View on YouTube. You can share that watch-page link with your audience. You can also look for upcoming streams on your YouTube channel’s Live tab or in YouTube Studio under Content > Live or the Live Control Room’s Manage tab.
A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds. Viewers can select Notify me to receive a reminder when it is about to begin. This is an option for viewers, not a guarantee that every subscriber will see or receive a notification.

Check destination support if you multistream
StreamYard’s scheduling help lists YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and StreamYard On-Air as destinations that support advance scheduling. It says scheduling in advance is not available for X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, or custom RTMP destinations. If you are sending one broadcast to multiple destinations, verify support for each destination before relying on a shared scheduled setup. See StreamYard’s scheduling guidance.
Troubleshooting a missing or unstarted stream
- You cannot select YouTube: connect the channel through Add a destination and confirm YouTube live streaming is enabled and the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements.
- You cannot find the scheduled event: use the broadcast’s three-dot menu and select View on YouTube, or check the channel’s Live tab and YouTube Studio’s Content > Live or Live Control Room’s Manage area.
- The event is scheduled but viewers see no live show: a regular studio broadcast still needs a person to enter the StreamYard studio and click Go Live. Scheduling alone creates the upcoming event.
- You cannot schedule one of your destinations: check whether that destination supports advance scheduling. StreamYard says X, Instagram, and custom RTMP are not available for advance scheduling in its general scheduling workflow.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video playing on YouTube while you are away—not to host a live studio show—StreamNeo is a separate option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded video from the cloud, so no computer, OBS, or home connection has to stay on. It supports the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly price is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
