For a YouTube channel built around continuously looping a prerecorded film library, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, and go live from the cloud, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot and a free first day. Among the other services documented in YouTube’s encoder guide, Gyre is the closest described match for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming; Upstream is described as a browser-based 24/7 streaming studio, while OBS is a local encoder option you operate yourself.
Which service fits a 24/7 film channel?
These tools represent different operating models, not a verified reliability ranking. StreamNeo offers cloud looping for videos you upload. YouTube’s encoder guide describes Gyre specifically as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos, making it the closest documented workflow match among the other named services. The guide describes Upstream as a browser-based studio for easy 24/7 live streaming with YouTube integration, but does not establish that it has the same film-library or playlist features. OBS is free, open-source software for recording and live streaming; it suits an operator who wants to run an encoder locally.

How cloud playout and local encoding differ
Cloud playout
A hosted service such as StreamNeo or Gyre runs the continuous playback and streaming workflow in the cloud, so the channel owner does not need to keep a home computer encoding around the clock. With StreamNeo, upload the recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and start the stream. Its service is for uploaded video playback to YouTube, not a live camera feed.
#1 Best Overall
Local encoder
With OBS, your computer encodes and sends the stream to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a live server URL and stream key to connect the encoder. This gives the operator direct control of the local setup, but also makes the stream dependent on that machine, its configuration, power and network staying available. The available sources do not provide comparable uptime figures for hosted services versus a local setup.
Plan the live feed separately from the replay
A channel playing continuously is not the same as a single complete archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a broadcast that runs longer, do not assume YouTube will create one complete replay: decide how viewers will access the films afterward and test the archive workflow for your intended schedule.
Rank #2
Check public-domain status before scheduling films
“Public domain” is not a universal label that clears every version of a film in every country. The U.S. Copyright Office says works published in the United States before January 1, 1931 are currently in the public domain because their copyright protection has expired. That general U.S. rule does not by itself settle the status of a particular film, its soundtrack, a later restoration or the work in other territories. The Copyright Office also notes that some foreign works whose U.S. copyrights had expired but remained protected in their source countries had U.S. copyright automatically restored in 1996.
- Identify the exact film and version you plan to stream, including restoration, added titles or other later material.
- Check the status of the underlying film and separately consider music and other included works.
- Check the relevant territories for your intended audience; age alone or a third-party upload label is not a title-specific clearance.
- Keep records of the rights basis and any licenses. This is a practical screening checklist, not a legal determination.
Prepare for YouTube copyright checks
YouTube states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If YouTube identifies third-party content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image; if the content remains, the platform may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream.
Rank #3
Even a licensed film can be interrupted if its rights owner has not added your channel to the Content ID allowlist. If you have a license for third-party material, confirm with the owner that the channel is allowlisted where necessary, and retain documentation. A belief that a film is public domain does not prevent automated identification or platform enforcement, so leave time to resolve a mistaken match before relying on uninterrupted transmission.
Choose by workflow, archive needs and rights readiness
- Choose StreamNeo if you want cloud-based looping of uploaded films or playlists and do not want a computer at home to remain on.
- Consider Gyre if you want a cloud tool whose documented description specifically names 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming, and verify its current terms and features directly.
- Consider Upstream if a browser-based studio is appealing, after confirming that its current workflow covers your film-library needs.
- Use OBS if you prefer to run and maintain your own local encoder and computer.
- For every option, settle the film, soundtrack, version and territory rights questions and understand YouTube’s live Content ID process before scheduling a long broadcast.
