To schedule a YouTube study-music livestream, open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream, then connect an encoder at the scheduled time and click Go live after its preview appears. For an Indian audience, tell viewers the start time in India-local time and verify the timezone shown in the livestream scheduling screen before you save: YouTube’s published encoder instructions do not establish which timezone that screen uses.
What a scheduled 24/7 stream does—and does not—promise
Scheduling creates an upcoming livestream watch page that viewers can visit and, where available, use to opt into a start notification. It helps make the start time clear; it does not by itself keep a broadcast running, create a complete replay, or guarantee uninterrupted availability. You still need to send the video through an encoder, and the scheduled event must be started from the Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder scheduling instructions describe this flow.
Separate three goals when planning the channel:
- Continuous live availability: a feed stays live for viewers.
- Replay completeness: a recording is available after the broadcast.
- Schedule clarity: viewers know when to expect the stream, expressed in a timezone they understand.
A single scheduled event does not automatically solve all three. In particular, YouTube warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all; that is an archive warning, not a statement that YouTube automatically ends every stream at 12 hours. YouTube’s archive guidance recommends keeping a local recording as a backup if you need a dependable replay.
Check channel eligibility and music rights first
Confirm that the channel can livestream
YouTube’s current getting-started guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must meet the minimum-age requirement of 16. Check the channel’s current eligibility before building a schedule around a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance has the platform requirements.

Clear rights for both the live feed and the replay
Do not assume that permission to listen to a track, or a license for one type of use, permits public livestreaming. Confirm that the rights cover transmission during the live broadcast and any archive or video-on-demand replay. YouTube’s music guidance specifically distinguishes performance rights for live use and archive use. Review YouTube’s music-rights guidance, and check the terms of the rights holder or licensor for the actual tracks you plan to use.
The stream must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Rights clearance is a separate question from whether a track is suitable for a study playlist: a calm or instrumental track is not automatically cleared for public retransmission.

Schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go Live, then open Manage and choose Schedule stream. Reuse a previous stream’s settings or create a new stream. The exact labels may change, so follow the current Studio interface. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe the scheduling path.
- Set the event details. Enter the stream title and other metadata, choose its visibility, and set the date and time. Before saving, inspect the timezone shown in the current livestream scheduler and ensure the event corresponds to the intended India-local time. YouTube’s separate scheduled-video help discusses choosing a timezone for scheduled videos, but that does not establish that the livestream scheduler offers the same control. Scheduled-video guidance is not a substitute for checking the livestream screen.
- Review the upcoming watch page. Once scheduled, share the watch-page link and write the start time explicitly for viewers in India—for example, state “India time” rather than relying on a viewer’s device to infer your intended timezone. YouTube recommends keeping a sustainable, consistent schedule and telling viewers about changes. Its livestream scheduling guidance explains upcoming streams and reminders; its creator guidance covers communicating a schedule.
- Protect the stream key. In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, public documents, or chat. YouTube allows a custom stream key to be reused, but anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the channel.
- Start the broadcast at the scheduled time. Start sending from the encoder. Wait for the Live Control Room preview to appear, check that the intended video and audio are present, and then click Go live.
Plan for a full-day feed and a usable replay
Do not rely on YouTube’s archive for a 24-hour replay
YouTube says livestreams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, and warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” The guidance does not say that a stream is automatically stopped at 12 hours. If a complete replay matters, make a local recording and plan how you will publish or segment it; YouTube explicitly recommends a local archive as a backup. Read the archive guidance.
Choose the operating plan around your priority
- If the priority is a predictable start, schedule the event and communicate the India-local time clearly.
- If the priority is replay, make an independent local recording rather than treating a long livestream archive as guaranteed.
- If the priority is continuous availability, plan how the feed will be maintained and recovered if the encoder or connection fails. YouTube’s cited scheduling instructions do not prescribe a preferred restart cadence.
Troubleshoot the common planning failures
