For a broadcast that stays live, a pinned chat message can point viewers toward another destination, but it does not move them there automatically.
Live Redirect and a pinned message do different jobs
Live Redirect is an end-of-stream handoff
Live Redirect sends viewers to a selected Premiere or another channel’s live stream after the originating stream or Premiere ends. YouTube describes it as an end-of-broadcast transition, not a way to transfer viewers while the original broadcast remains continuously live. See YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance.
A pinned chat message is an in-chat signpost
A creator can pin a message in the current live chat or Premiere chat to show viewers an instruction or destination. It is not an automatic handoff: viewers must see and follow the message themselves. YouTube allows only one pinned message at a time, and only the creator—not moderators or viewers—can pin, replace, or unpin it. See YouTube’s live chat instructions.

Set up a Live Redirect for a planned handoff

Check eligibility on the sending channel. YouTube Help currently says a creator sending a redirect needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Confirm the current requirement in YouTube Help before scheduling, since platform settings and eligibility can change.

Confirm that the destination channel allows your channel to redirect viewers to it. YouTube documents options for allowing subscribed channels, allowing all channels, or allowing specific channels. The all-channels option cannot be combined with the other listed permission approaches; the manual allowlist can include up to 100 channels.

In YouTube Studio, open the originating live stream or Premiere and go to Customization → Redirect. Add a Premiere or select another channel’s live stream as the destination.

End the originating stream or Premiere to trigger the documented handoff. Tell viewers what to expect. Viewers with autoplay disabled may have to click the play button to start the destination, as noted in TeamYouTube’s May 3, 2022 announcement.

YouTube’s 2022 announcement says channels of any size can receive redirects. That is separate from the current Help page’s eligibility requirements for sending one; use the current Help page for setup and settings.

Pin a message for viewers in the current chat

Open the live chat for the stream or Premiere and post the instruction or destination you want viewers to see.

Pin your message in chat. You can also pin a viewer’s message, but only the creator can manage the pin.

To change the signpost, replace or unpin the current message before pinning another; only one message can be pinned at a time.
For a 24/7 broadcast, use the message as an instruction for people who are using chat—for example, to explain where a scheduled next stream will appear. Do not describe it as an automatic redirect. YouTube’s live-stream guidance provides general live-stream context, but the cited Help material does not establish how pinned messages behave across encoder reconnects or session changes.
What YouTube’s guidance does not establish for uninterrupted streams

If a reconnect or session transition is central to your routing plan, test it on the actual channel rather than assuming either feature will persist or retrigger.
