To send viewers from an ended YouTube livestream to a Premiere or another channel’s livestream, open YouTube Studio > Content > Live, edit the source stream, choose Customization > Redirect > Add, and select the destination. The channel sending viewers needs more than 1,000 subscribers, no Community Guidelines strikes, and livestream access; a Premiere destination must be created first. YouTube documents these requirements without a separate India-specific threshold.
What Live Redirect does—and when it can help
YouTube Live Redirect can move viewers from a livestream or Premiere that is ending to a selected Premiere or another channel’s livestream. For a devotional music channel, that could mean handing viewers from a live bhajan session to a scheduled devotional-music Premiere, or coordinating a transition to a collaborator’s live program. These are possible uses, not a guarantee of more viewers, retention, or revenue.
The handoff happens when the source stream ends. YouTube says autoplay moves viewers to the selected destination; let your audience know that the page may take a few seconds to reload.
Check eligibility and destination permissions
Requirements for the channel sending viewers
- YouTube requires the sending creator to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- The channel must also have general livestream access: YouTube says it must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- YouTube’s live-stream overview lists Live Redirect for horizontal livestreams, not its vertical live feed. Plan the source in horizontal format if you intend to use the feature.
YouTube’s reviewed instructions do not specify different eligibility thresholds for India. Apply the requirements above rather than assuming a separate local rule.

Requirements for the destination
- A Premiere is a documented destination. Create and schedule it before configuring the source livestream; YouTube’s advice is, “Set up your Premiere before setting up your live stream.”
- To redirect to another channel’s livestream, that channel must permit your redirect in its YouTube Studio settings. Coordinate with the channel and confirm permission before relying on the handoff.
Set up a redirect from a livestream
- Choose the destination. Decide whether viewers should go to a Premiere or another channel’s livestream. For a cross-channel handoff, confirm the receiving channel’s permission and timing with its operator.
- Create the Premiere first, if that is your destination. Make sure it is set up before you configure the source livestream.
- Open the source stream in Studio. In YouTube Studio, click Content, open the Live tab, hover over the source livestream, and click Edit.
- Add the destination. Open Customization. Under Redirect, click Add, then select a Premiere or search for another channel’s livestream.
- End the source and confirm the handoff. YouTube displays a confirmation that viewers will be redirected. Tell viewers beforehand to wait a few seconds for the page to reload.

Allow other channels to redirect viewers to your channel
If you want collaborators to send viewers to your livestream, set the receiving-channel policy in YouTube Studio under Settings > Community. YouTube describes three choices: allow subscribed channels (subject to the subscription-privacy condition), allow all channels, or approve specific channels. You can manually add up to 100 channels. Choose the policy that fits your collaboration and moderation preferences, then save it.

Receiving redirects is distinct from sending them: YouTube’s official TeamYouTube explanation says channels of any size can receive redirects. The announcement is dated May 3, 2022; use the current Help page for today’s setup and eligibility details.
Redirect from a Premiere instead
YouTube also documents setting a redirect on a Premiere. In Studio, open Content > Live, edit the Premiere, choose Customization, and add a destination under Redirect. If the destination is another Premiere, have it ready before arranging the handoff.

Troubleshoot a missing or unsuccessful redirect
- Redirect controls or sending eligibility are unavailable: Check that the sending channel has more than 1,000 subscribers, no Community Guidelines strikes, and general livestream access. YouTube’s general requirements include channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days.
- You cannot select a collaborator’s livestream: Ask the receiving channel to review its redirect permissions under Settings > Community. It may need to allow your channel or choose a broader permission setting.
- The source is vertical: YouTube’s overview lists Live Redirect for horizontal live streams, not the vertical live feed. Use a horizontal source for this workflow.
- The Premiere does not appear as a ready destination: Set it up before configuring the source stream, as YouTube advises.
- Viewers think the handoff has stalled: Explain that autoplay can take a few seconds while the page reloads, and give the audience the destination and timing in advance.
