Start by comparing the YouTube replay with the local recording made by your encoder. If both are out of sync, investigate capture, audio routing, device timing, and encoding performance. If the local recording is clean but the replay is not, compare playback qualities and devices, then collect evidence for YouTube support. There is no single setting that fixes every replay sync problem.
First, find out where the sync problem appears
Use the same recognizable moment in both the local archive and the YouTube replay—for example, a spoken word paired with a visible action. Compare a point near the beginning, middle, and end. YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance specifically recommends looking for audio or video problems in the local archive: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
- Both files are out of sync: The fault is present before or during encoding. Check capture, routing, audio-device timing, and encoder performance.
- The local file is clean but the replay is not: The problem is observed in YouTube playback rather than in that local recording. Compare playback qualities and devices before escalating.
- The offset stays about the same: Note the size and direction of the offset. A steady offset and a growing offset are useful clues, but neither identifies the cause on its own.
- The offset grows over time: Record examples at several timestamps. This can help distinguish a persistent timing mismatch from an offset that accumulates during the stream.
YouTube creates multiple output formats from a live stream. That makes it useful to compare available playback qualities, but transcoding alone does not establish why a particular replay is out of sync.
Check whether the problem is limited to one viewer or playback quality
Try the replay on another device or browser and, where available, at another playback quality. Ask another viewer on a different connection to check the same section. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says an issue reported by one viewer is likely to be on that viewer’s computer or connection; reports from multiple viewers on different connections can point toward the encoder.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- One viewer or device only: Check that device’s browser, connection, and playback behavior before changing the original stream settings.
- Several viewers, but only one quality is affected: Record the affected quality and compare the same timestamps at other qualities. This narrows the playback-path evidence but does not prove that transcoding caused the problem.
- Several viewers and qualities are affected: Preserve the timestamps and move on to encoder health and local-file checks.
Inspect Live Control Room health and encoder logs
Review the stream-health messages in YouTube Live Control Room and the encoder’s logs around the timestamps where the fault is audible or visible. YouTube’s Live Streaming API health documentation lists configuration issues involving audio sample rate, GOP/keyframe settings, and insufficient video ingestion. These warnings are diagnostic signals; the documentation does not say that each one necessarily causes sync drift.
- Note warnings about bitrate, frame rate, keyframe/GOP configuration, or video ingestion.
- Check whether the audio sample rate is 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, the rates the API documentation identifies as recommended.
- Save the OBS or other encoder log and match its timestamps to the affected replay sections.
Check audio capture and device timing in OBS
Review the audio sources used in the affected scene. Capturing the same device globally and again as a scene source can create echo, according to OBS’s Audio Sources guidance. Confirm that each intended device is included only once in the active signal path.

On Windows, OBS audio capture includes Use Device Timestamps. OBS describes this option as attempting to use device information to prevent desynchronization; it is not a guaranteed repair. If you test it, change only that setting, make a representative test recording or stream, and compare the same events before and after. Keep a note of the original setting so you can revert if the result is worse.
Check whether 4K60 encoding is keeping up
Rendering and encoding load can affect performance. OBS recommends reducing output resolution or frame rate if encoding performance is a problem; if 60 fps is not working reliably, it suggests trying 30 fps. Treat a 30 fps test as a diagnostic change: it lowers the frame-rate target and does not prove that load caused the original sync issue. See OBS Encoding Performance Troubleshooting.

- Check encoder status and CPU or other available performance indicators during the affected section.
- If performance warnings or missed frames coincide with the problem, test a lower output resolution or 30 fps in a controlled stream.
- Compare the local recording and replay from that test using the same events and timestamps.
Validate YouTube’s 4K60 ingest settings
Compare the encoder’s output with YouTube’s current recommendations for 2160p at 60 fps. The bitrate figures below are ingest recommendations, not sync tolerances or guaranteed fixes. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance also specifies the supported settings summarized here.
| Setting | YouTube guidance for 4K/2160p at 60 fps |
|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265 bitrate | 35 Mbps recommended; 10 Mbps minimum |
| H.264 bitrate | 50 Mbps recommended; 14 Mbps minimum |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps |
| Keyframe frequency | Recommended every 2 seconds; should not exceed 4 seconds |
| Bitrate encoding | CBR |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3 |
| Latency at 4K/2160 | Low-latency option is unavailable; streams are set to normal latency |
Use YouTube’s stream-health report to determine whether a setting is flagged. Do not assume that a bitrate mismatch caused sync drift just because it differs from the recommendation. YouTube also advises testing with representative audio and movement and monitoring stream health.

When only the replay remains out of sync
If the local archive is clean and the replay problem persists across viewers or devices, preserve the evidence and report the issue through YouTube Help. Include:
- The replay URL, shared privately with support.
- The local archive, if available, and timestamps showing the mismatch.
- The playback qualities tested and the device and browser used.
- Your encoder settings, relevant stream-health messages, and OBS or encoder logs.
The evidence helps separate a replay-only symptom from a problem already present in the encoded output. Do not assume that waiting, deleting the replay, or uploading it again will correct the fault; the available guidance does not establish any of those as a general fix.
