To loop multiple Malayalam gospel songs on YouTube Live, install VLC, add OBS’s VLC Video source to a scene, load local song files into its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Then send OBS to YouTube Live using your stream URL and stream key. Use recordings you have permission to stream, test the playlist and stream before the event, and monitor it while live.
What you need before setting up the playlist
- OBS Studio on the computer that will send the broadcast.
- VLC installed on that computer. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC so OBS can detect the VLC source.
- Local audio or video files for the Malayalam gospel songs. This workflow uses files on your computer; it does not establish that YouTube Music or an arbitrary YouTube playlist can be imported reliably into OBS’s VLC source.
- A verified YouTube channel without live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Check current channel eligibility in YouTube Studio if you cannot start an encoder stream.
- Permission to livestream each recording, including any necessary platform-side Content ID allowlisting.
OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source to appear. See OBS’s media sources guidance for the documented source controls.
Add and loop a multi-song playlist in OBS
- Install VLC. Install the version matching OBS’s architecture. For 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC.
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, choose the scene that should carry the songs and any visuals you want in the broadcast.
- Add the playlist source. In the Sources panel, select +, then VLC Video. Name the source if useful, then add the local media files you intend to play.
- Arrange the song order. Put the files in the sequence you want. Keep shuffle off for a fixed order; enable it only if you want OBS to vary the sequence.
- Enable looping. Turn on Loop Playlist. OBS restarts the source when it reaches the end of its media list, so the playlist begins again after the final item.
- Check playback in the preview. Confirm the first song plays, the audio is audible, the video or artwork appears as intended, and the next file starts. Let the playlist reach its end in a test to verify that it returns to the beginning.
For a single song rather than a playlist, use OBS’s built-in Media Source: select the file and enable Loop. OBS documents support for formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC and WAV; a particular file can still depend on its codec and system setup. See OBS’s Media Source instructions.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or select an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into OBS’s streaming settings. The key acts like a password: it identifies where the encoder sends its feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not share it publicly.
- Prefer RTMPS when configuring the encoder connection. Review OBS’s output in the Live Control Room preview before starting the public event.
- Check the picture, song audio, and stream health in the preview. Start the event only after the feed looks and sounds right.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends 10 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p/30fps. That is a recommendation for that specific resolution and frame rate, not a universal bitrate for every stream. Choose settings suited to your output and available upload speed; YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. See YouTube’s encoder settings and live-streaming guidance and YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

Check music rights before broadcasting
Gospel subject matter does not make a recording free to use. Confirm that you have permission for each song recording you plan to include; a song’s presence on YouTube or in a playlist is not proof that you may rebroadcast it.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and issue a warning; if the content continues, the stream can be interrupted or terminated. Even licensed third-party material may interrupt a live stream unless the rights holder adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Permission and allowlisting are separate checks. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams, and ask the rights holder whether your channel needs allowlisting.

Test and monitor the stream
- Test with representative song files and the exact OBS scene you plan to broadcast.
- Check that the playlist advances, plays at the intended volume, and loops back to its beginning.
- Use the Live Control Room preview to catch a missing source, silent audio, or an incorrect scene before going public.
- During the broadcast, watch stream health and listen for audio or playback problems. Keep upload capacity above the stream’s total bitrate, with YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
Troubleshooting common OBS playlist problems
| Problem | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| VLC Video is missing from the Sources menu | VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. | Install VLC; for 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC, then reopen OBS and check the source list. |
| The playlist stops after the last song | Loop Playlist is off. | Open the VLC Video source properties, enable Loop Playlist, and test through the end again. |
| Songs play in an unexpected sequence | The files are ordered differently than intended or shuffle is enabled. | Review the playlist order and turn shuffle off for a fixed sequence. |
| A song has no sound or its video does not display | The file may have a codec or playback compatibility issue, or the source may be configured incorrectly. | Test that file in VLC, then test it in the OBS source and confirm the source is visible and audible in the scene preview. Support for a particular codec is not guaranteed by the file extension alone. |
| YouTube does not show a usable encoder preview | The stream URL or key may be wrong, the encoder may not be connected, or the channel may not be eligible to stream. | Recheck the selected stream’s URL and key, OBS connection settings, and channel eligibility in YouTube Studio. |
| The live stream is interrupted during a song | YouTube may have detected third-party content; licensed music can also require Content ID allowlisting. | Review YouTube’s notice, contact the rights holder about permissions and allowlisting, and do not assume a license alone prevents an interruption. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is continuous YouTube playback without leaving OBS and a home computer running, StreamNeo runs uploaded recordings or playlists from the cloud. Upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams what you upload at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly: $9.99 per month. For Malayalam gospel songs, you still need appropriate rights for every recording; StreamNeo does not make a recording cleared for livestreaming. Start your free StreamNeo day.
