You can keep a Tamil podcast archive live on YouTube by sending a looping playlist from encoder software on a VPS to a YouTube Live stream. YouTube supplies the stream URL and stream key; the VPS, playlist, and restart supervision are your implementation choices. A continuous broadcast is not the same as one guaranteed, complete YouTube archive: streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while YouTube does not promise automatic archiving for longer streams.
Before you set up the VPS
Check that the channel can livestream
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The minimum age to livestream is 16. Check the channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio before spending time configuring a server. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
Clear the complete archive
Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every part of the material you plan to broadcast: episode recordings, music beds, guest-contributed audio, clips, cover art, and any looping or changing visuals. A license for one element does not necessarily clear the rest. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can cause a placeholder image, a warning, interruption, or termination. Even licensed material can interrupt a stream if the rights holder has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. An archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after it ends. Rights and channel-policy checks still apply when material is repeated. Looping an episode does not prevent a match or make uncleared material permissible.

Create a YouTube Live stream and protect its key

Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or select the stream you intend to use.

Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the VPS encoder’s streaming settings. Use the URL YouTube provides rather than assembling an endpoint by hand.

Treat the stream key as a password. Do not place it in a public script, screenshot, repository, or log; anyone with the key may be able to publish to the stream.

Choose RTMPS where YouTube provides it. YouTube recommends RTMPS because it encrypts the RTMP connection in transit. At the API level, Google specifies RTMPS, a valid YouTube ingestion endpoint, and port 443; the hostname is needed for TLS SNI authentication. Set the encoder’s video and audio settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS with H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. For H.264, the current recommended video bitrates include 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. These are YouTube recommendations, not a measurement of your VPS or a requirement that a podcast use either resolution. A static podcast visual may not need the same resolution as fast-moving footage; choose a setting suitable for the picture and check YouTube’s current guidance when configuring the encoder.

Build and supervise the loop on the VPS
Make a playlist from the episodes you have cleared, then configure encoder software to play it repeatedly and send its output to the YouTube stream URL and key. The playlist can be a simple sequence or an editorially arranged rotation; decide whether episodes should run in order, repeat from the beginning, or be interspersed with other cleared material. A static visual or a changing episode card can accompany the audio, provided you have rights to that artwork and any other elements.
For unattended operation, arrange for the encoder process to restart if it exits, and keep logs and a way to check whether the process and stream are healthy. A process supervisor and a looping playlist are implementation choices—not requirements imposed by YouTube. YouTube’s cited guidance does not prescribe a particular VPS provider, CPU or RAM size, bandwidth margin, FFmpeg command, or supervisor, and it does not guarantee that a restarted process will restore the broadcast. Size the server for the encoding method you actually use and observe its load during a test.

There is an important distinction between encoding and stream-copying. If the VPS encodes or transcodes media, it must have enough capacity for that work. If it passes through already compatible media without re-encoding, the processing demand may differ, but the encoder still has to sustain the input and outgoing stream. Do not infer server capacity from the bitrate recommendations alone.
Test the stream before leaving it unattended

Start with a short test using audio and moving video similar to the intended broadcast. YouTube recommends testing in this way and monitoring stream health.

Check the Live Control Room’s stream-health feedback, and listen to the audio while viewing the picture. Confirm that the playlist advances and loops as intended.

Watch the VPS process and logs during the test. Confirm that the outgoing connection stays active and that your chosen restart mechanism behaves as intended if the encoder exits.

Confirm the stream key and destination are correct, then check the live stream from a viewer’s perspective before relying on unattended operation.
Plan the broadcast around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube Help states: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” YouTube does not make the same automatic-archive promise for a single stream that runs longer than 12 hours. If an available replay matters, plan separate sessions shorter than 12 hours and verify that each session has archived. A session boundary means the channel is not one uninterrupted broadcast during the handoff. Do not assume that a 24/7 transmission will produce one complete, automatically saved replay. Troubleshooting common failures

YouTube rejects the connection: Recheck that the encoder has the server URL and stream key for the selected Studio stream. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

The stream connects but has poor health: Check the encoder’s bitrate, CBR setting, keyframe interval, codec, and frame rate against YouTube’s guidance. Then inspect the VPS’s actual CPU load and network connection; the recommended bitrate is not a guarantee of server capacity.

There is no sound or the picture is frozen: Test with representative moving video and audio, then check the encoder’s input selection and output settings. Monitor stream health in Live Control Room while diagnosing.

The broadcast stops after running unattended: Check the VPS process and logs, network status, and any supervisor’s restart behavior. A configured restart may help recover from a process exit, but it does not guarantee a seamless return to the stream.

YouTube displays a copyright warning or interrupts the stream: Review the matched episode, music, guest material, clips, and visuals. Confirm the rights and, when licensed third-party content is involved, ask the rights holder whether the channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. Do not assume that a license automatically prevents automated matching.

Can the podcast be audio-only?
The workflow can carry podcast audio with a suitable visual, such as cleared episode artwork; YouTube’s cited encoder guidance covers audio and video settings, not a guarantee that an audio-only presentation will be accepted or surfaced in every context.
Does using RTMPS change the stream key?
No. RTMPS is the secure transport YouTube recommends; use the server URL and stream key supplied for the stream in YouTube Studio.
