Those are feature-specific rules, separate from YouTube’s general requirements for livestreaming.
Who can use Live Redirect?
To send viewers
YouTube Help’s Live Redirect guidance, current as of October 3, 2026, says the sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Exactly 1,000 subscribers does not meet the stated threshold.
To receive viewers
Receiving is controlled by the destination channel. A sender can redirect viewers to another channel’s live stream only if that channel’s settings permit the sender. YouTube’s current guidance says channels of any size can receive a redirect when they allow it; the sender’s eligibility rule still applies to the creator initiating the redirect.
How do I allow other creators to Live Redirect to my channel?
In YouTube Studio, configure the channel’s redirect permissions. You can choose among these permission scopes:

- Channels you subscribe to: Those channels may redirect viewers to your content. This is the default unless your subscriptions are private.
- All channels: Any channel may redirect viewers to your content. You cannot combine this setting with the subscription-based setting or the manual approval list.
- Specific channels: Manually approve channels, up to 100. This option can be combined with the subscription-based setting.
For a cross-channel redirect, check with the destination channel if you are unsure whether it permits your channel. The recipient’s permission does not remove the sender’s separate eligibility requirements.
Can I redirect viewers to another channel’s live stream?
Yes. YouTube allows a creator to send viewers to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. For a live-stream destination, the receiving channel must permit the sender. You can also redirect viewers to a Premiere, including one on your own channel.

How do I redirect my live stream viewers?
- In YouTube Studio, open Content > Live.
- Edit the source live stream.
- Open Customization.
- Under Redirect, select Add.
- Choose a Premiere or a permitted channel’s live stream as the destination.
- Save or apply the change in Studio.
YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before configuring the livestream redirect. It also suggests telling viewers to wait a few seconds after the source ends so their screens can reload, pinning a live-chat message on the Premiere page that points viewers to the live stream, and allowing other streamers to redirect to your channel.
What happens when the source stream ends?
YouTube says autoplay moves viewers to the selected Premiere or live stream when the source ends. In a May 3, 2022 TeamYouTube announcement, YouTube added that viewers with autoplay turned off may need to press play themselves; treat that as historical behavior guidance rather than a guarantee about every current interface.

Live Redirect rules versus general livestream requirements
Live Redirect eligibility is not the same as permission to livestream. YouTube’s general livestreaming guide says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. It also says a person must be at least 16 to livestream. Meeting those general conditions does not replace the separate requirement of more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes to send a Live Redirect.
YouTube’s live-stream feature comparison lists Live Redirect as available for horizontal live streams and unavailable in the vertical live feed. That comparison concerns those listed stream formats; it should not be read as a broader statement about every possible stream configuration.

Common problems and what to check
- The redirect option is unavailable: Confirm that the sending channel meets YouTube’s stated sender threshold and strike requirement, and that you are editing the source event under Content > Live > Customization.
- The destination channel does not appear or cannot be selected: The destination may not have allowed redirects from your channel. Ask its owner to review the recipient permission scope in Studio.
- The recipient expects any channel to redirect: The all-channels permission cannot be combined with the subscription setting or manual approval list. The recipient needs to select a compatible permission arrangement.
- Viewers do not move automatically: YouTube describes the transition as autoplay after the source ends; the 2022 TeamYouTube announcement notes that viewers who disabled autoplay may need to press play.
- You are using a vertical live feed: YouTube’s comparison lists Live Redirect as unavailable in the vertical live feed; use a horizontal live stream for the feature described there.
