You can keep a rights-cleared Marathi bhajan video feed on YouTube Live around the clock by running an encoder in the cloud, configuring a YouTube live event and its incoming stream, and monitoring both ends. Before setting it up, clear the rights to the actual recordings and visuals: devotional subject matter alone does not grant permission to rebroadcast.
Clear the rights to the bhajan videos first
Check that you have permission for the specific audio recording, performance, and visual material you plan to stream, including the intended live use, archive, and territories. Traditional lyrics, devotional content, online availability, or a “royalty-free” label do not by themselves establish that a recording or video is cleared for this use.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party material, including other live broadcasts. It may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; if it continues, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. Copyright or Community Guidelines violations can also lead to termination. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted by the rights holder through Content ID. YouTube advises: “If you’ve licensed third-party content to use in your stream, ask the owner of the content to add your channel to their allowlist through Content ID.” YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.
How the cloud-to-YouTube setup works
The cloud encoder sends your prepared audio and video feed to YouTube’s ingestion endpoint. YouTube treats that incoming feed and the viewer-facing live event as separate resources: the feed is a liveStream, while the event is a liveBroadcast. In the API lifecycle, one broadcast is associated with one feed. You can configure and verify them using YouTube Studio or the YouTube Live Streaming API. Cloud hosting removes the need to keep your own computer running, but it does not eliminate the need for a configured encoder, an outbound connection from the host, rights clearance, monitoring, or an archive plan. Costs, capacity, regions, and reliability depend on the hosting option; there is no universal cloud-server size or price established here.
Set up a cloud encoder and YouTube event
- Enable live streaming access. Check that the channel is eligible and live streaming is enabled in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s live-production guidance says first-time enablement may take 24 hours; this is a setup delay, not an ongoing requirement. YouTube live streaming setup and archiving guidance.
- Create the viewer-facing event. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live, set up the event, and choose its visibility. Test with an unlisted or private event before scheduling a public broadcast. Confirm the title, description, audience setting, and start time before launch.
- Configure the incoming feed. Create or select a stream for the event. Copy the ingestion endpoint and stream key from the stream settings into the encoder. Treat the key as a secret: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel. If you use the API, configure the
liveStreamingestion information and associate it with the intendedliveBroadcast. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS, DASH, and HLS ingestion; confirm that the chosen protocol is supported by both the encoder and the configured YouTube stream. YouTube liveStream resource. - Set an output YouTube accepts. Use the requirements for the chosen ingestion protocol rather than assuming every protocol has identical settings. For HLS, YouTube specifies muxed M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio on a single track, and closed GOPs; frame rates up to 60 fps are supported. Its HLS documentation describes media segments of 1–4 seconds and characterizes HLS as higher latency than other options. YouTube HLS ingestion requirements.
- Start the encoder and check reception. Start the prepared feed, then verify that YouTube reports it as receiving data before the event begins. For API workflows, Google’s lifecycle guide says to confirm
status.streamStatusisactive. Also check the preview and stream-health indicators in Studio; do not treat a running encoder process as proof that viewers can see a healthy stream. - Go public only after a test. Confirm audio and video playback, event visibility, and the correct source playlist. Keep a restart procedure and a separate recording plan ready before leaving the broadcast unattended.
Choose where the encoder runs and how it connects
A cloud VM or hosted encoder can keep the feed running without a home computer, while a local always-on machine is another option. In either case, the encoder must remain configured and able to send data; cloud hosting shifts the dependency to the hosting service and its connection rather than removing it. Check provider-specific pricing, regions, operational controls, and reliability before choosing a host.

RTMP/RTMPS, DASH, and HLS are available ingestion choices in YouTube’s live-stream resource. Select a protocol the encoder supports and follow its matching YouTube requirements. HLS has protocol-specific packaging and codec constraints and higher latency as described above; do not apply those HLS requirements indiscriminately to other protocols.
Monitor an unattended 24/7 stream
- Watch YouTube’s stream status. Confirm YouTube is receiving encoder data; for API monitoring, check for
status.streamStatusequal toactive. - Watch the encoder connection. If using OBS, a rising dropped-frame counter together with a yellow or red connection indicator means the connection to the destination is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. Investigate the host’s outbound connection and configured bitrate rather than assuming the source video is at fault. OBS sends to the destination service directly, not through OBS-operated servers. - Plan recovery. Decide who or what will restart the encoder if its process stops, the host loses connectivity, or YouTube drops the feed. Test the recovery procedure before relying on it around the clock; no hosting choice makes an unattended stream immune to failures.
- Keep an independent archive. YouTube’s reviewed guidance says automatic archiving applies to streams under 12 hours and recommends recording longer broadcasts separately. A round-the-clock broadcast exceeds that guidance, so do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive as the only copy. Verify current platform guidance before launch. Common problems and what to check
