To let other people add videos to a YouTube playlist, open the playlist, choose Share → Invite collaborators, and invite them. If prompted, make the playlist public or unlisted. Invitees can add videos after accepting the invitation.
Invite people to collaborate on a playlist
- Create a playlist or open one you own.
- Open the playlist and select Share.
- Select Invite collaborators, then choose whom to invite.
- If YouTube asks you to make the playlist shareable, set its visibility to Public or Unlisted before sending the invitation. A private playlist cannot be shared for collaboration through this flow.
- Send the invitation. Each person must accept it before they can add videos.
YouTube’s help page describes this as collaborating with friends by inviting them to add videos to a new or existing playlist: Collaborate on playlists.
How collaborators add videos
After accepting the invitation, a collaborator can add a video from the playlist or save a video to it:
- From the playlist, select Add, search for a video, then select Save to playlist.
- On a video page, select Save and choose the shared playlist.
The collaborator’s profile picture appears on videos they add, helping the group see who contributed each item.

Manage collaborators from YouTube Studio on desktop
You can also reach the playlist’s collaboration controls through YouTube Studio on a computer:
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Content → Playlists.
- Open the playlist menu and select Edit on YouTube.
- In the playlist details, select More → Collaborate to manage invitations.

What collaborators can change—and how to end collaboration
- A collaborator can add videos and remove videos they added.
- The playlist owner can also remove a collaborator’s additions. Other collaborators cannot remove those contributions.
- Turning off collaboration removes all collaborators from the playlist.
- A collaborator can leave by removing the playlist from their library. They will no longer be able to add videos or appear as a collaborator, but videos they already added remain in the playlist.
YouTube describes playlist capacity approximately as hundreds of people and thousands of videos or songs; its help page does not give an exact maximum.
