Intel’s current N100 specifications list four cores, four threads, a 6 W TDP and support for up to 16 GB of memory, depending on memory type. Those are processor specifications, not a prediction of what a complete mini PC will draw while encoding and streaming. How much power will an N100 mini PC use while streaming?
The N100’s 6 W TDP is not the same as the power drawn by the complete mini PC at the wall. It does not account for the rest of the system, and it is not a measurement of continuous streaming use. Neither the processor specification nor the cited manufacturer page provides a verified 24/7 consumption figure for an N100 mini PC running this workload.
- Set up the exact video, encoder and stream settings you plan to use.
- Connect the complete PC as you would for normal operation, including its display or peripherals if they will remain attached.
- Use a suitable plug-in power meter to measure the system at the wall during representative streaming, rather than estimating from the CPU specification.
- Use the measured energy consumption and your electricity tariff to estimate ongoing cost. Treat a short test as an estimate, not a guarantee of every day’s use.
For a 24/7 broadcast, consider cooling and serviceability as well as a low purchase price. Wired Ethernet is a practical option if your router is nearby, but it is not mandatory and does not guarantee an uninterrupted stream. A UPS for the PC and router may help with some power interruptions; choose one only after checking the equipment’s load and the runtime you need, since no particular UPS size or runtime is established here.

What does YouTube require for a continuous encoder stream?
Enable live streaming and check channel eligibility
YouTube’s current help guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its getting-started guidance says streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so complete that step before scheduling a launch. Check the current YouTube live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions for the rules that apply to your account.
Configure and verify the encoder before going live
An encoder converts the audio and video feed into a digital format; YouTube says it can be software or standalone hardware. Prepare the stream in advance, check the preview, confirm the live event and any local recording, then monitor audio and video quality while it runs. Use the encoder and YouTube’s current stream setup instructions for the specific settings and stream key; the cited guidance does not establish one universal bitrate or resolution for every sleep-sounds video and connection. Leave upload headroom
YouTube recommends that available upload bandwidth exceed the combined stream bitrate by 20%. Check the real upload connection while other household devices are in normal use, and make sure the stream bitrate fits within the available capacity. YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will become one complete archive. Make sleep-sounds content suitable for a long-running stream
Streaming continuously does not grant permission to use music, recordings, images or other material you do not have rights to. Use audio and visuals you created or are authorized to broadcast, and check the relevant license terms for continuous live use and any intended monetization. YouTube’s policies and enforcement can change; review its current Community Guidelines and copyright guidance before building a long-running playlist.
For a channel built from loops or prerecorded material, also consider whether the videos offer meaningful original value and comply with YouTube’s current monetization rules. A continuous stream or a large playlist is not, by itself, evidence of compliance. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies before relying on advertising revenue.
