You can use an Airtel Xstream connection to send a continuous music broadcast to YouTube Live, but the plan’s advertised “up to” speed does not establish that your connection can sustain a particular stream bitrate around the clock. Measure upload speed at the encoder, choose settings that leave bandwidth headroom, test YouTube’s stream health, and secure the rights to every track before going live.
What you need for a 24/7 stream
The stream is sent from an encoder—such as a computer running streaming software—to YouTube over your Airtel connection. For continuous operation, the encoder must remain on and connected, and the connection must sustain the stream’s total upload bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload bandwidth beyond that bitrate. A disruption can break the stream, so an Airtel plan’s advertised speed alone is not a guarantee of uninterrupted broadcasting. YouTube’s network guidance and Airtel’s broadband terms explain the relevant limits.
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming.
- An encoder and a stable internet connection at its location.
- Music you are authorized to broadcast on a livestream.
- A plan for outages and for keeping a local recording if you need a complete copy.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, and a creator who is at least 16 years old. First-time activation of live streaming can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the planned broadcast start. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
Measure Airtel upload capacity where you will stream
Test the encoder’s connection, not just the plan headline
Run upload speed tests from the computer and location that will send the stream. Repeat them at different times to see how results vary. The sustainable upload available to the encoder—not a download figure or an “up to” plan speed—is what matters when choosing bitrate. YouTube advises testing upload bitrate and leaving 20% headroom; if you configure primary and backup streams, account for both bitrates. YouTube’s encoder and bitrate recommendations provide the configuration guidance.

Choose a bitrate with room to spare
Keep the combined stream bitrate below the upload capacity you can reliably sustain, with at least the headroom YouTube recommends. For example, if the video and audio together use 5 Mbps, allow at least 6 Mbps of upload capacity for that stream under YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation. This is a calculation, not a claim that a particular Airtel plan or household connection will sustain that rate.
Airtel says actual speed depends on local feasibility and service availability; its terms also describe fair usage provisions. Check the current terms for your specific plan and location, then base your settings on observed performance. Do not infer sustained upload capacity or continuous service from the plan name. Airtel broadband terms and Airtel broadband plans are the relevant references.

Configure YouTube Live and the encoder
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create a live stream and select an encoder workflow. YouTube supports webcam, mobile, and encoder options; an encoder is the relevant route for a produced continuous broadcast. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream.
- Protect the stream key. Enter it only in your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat it like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your stream. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover the connection process.
- Set the protocol and video encoder. YouTube supports RTMP and RTMPS and recommends RTMPS. Use H.264 video and constant bitrate (CBR), as recommended by YouTube.
- Set the keyframe interval. Use a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Set audio. YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio and recommends 128 Kbps for stereo in its advanced recommendations.
- Choose resolution and bitrate your measured upload can support. Test with the intended video settings and leave the recommended upload headroom rather than selecting settings solely for their maximum quality.
- Run a test broadcast. Use similar audio and movement to the planned stream, then watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages before relying on the setup for a long session.
Exact labels differ between encoder applications, so use the application’s streaming settings to enter the YouTube URL, key, codec, bitrate, and keyframe interval. YouTube’s live encoder settings page is the source for the recommendations above.
Improve the local connection and plan for interruptions
Where practical, connect the encoder computer to the router with Ethernet instead of relying on Wi-Fi. A Cat 6 Ethernet cable is one possible accessory if the computer is near the router and has an Ethernet port; it may reduce one source of local wireless variability, but it cannot fix an Airtel outage or guarantee a stable stream. YouTube’s network tips emphasize a reliable connection and warn that connectivity disruptions can interrupt a broadcast.

Keep the encoder powered, prevent the computer from sleeping, and decide how you will restart or recover the broadcast if the connection or encoder fails. A local recording is useful if you need a copy of the program independent of YouTube’s archive. One Airtel connection cannot guarantee continuous operation through an ISP disruption.
Clear music rights before broadcasting
You need the necessary rights to use every track in a livestream. YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted content and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast. Even if you have a licence, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel for the stream to proceed without interruption. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams explains this process.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams lasting longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24-hour session is therefore not a reliable way to create a complete replay. If you need a full copy, make and check a local recording. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube reports poor stream health or buffering | The upload connection cannot sustain the total bitrate, or available upload capacity varies. | Retest from the encoder location, lower the video bitrate or resolution, and leave YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom. Check stream-health messages during another test. |
| The stream disconnects | The encoder, local network, or ISP connection was interrupted. | Check power and sleep settings, inspect the local connection, and follow your prepared restart plan. Ethernet may remove a Wi-Fi variable but does not prevent an ISP outage. |
| YouTube interrupts the music broadcast | A track may be identified as third-party copyrighted content, or required channel allowlisting may be missing. | Check YouTube’s notices, confirm the rights cover livestream use, and contact the rights holder about allowlisting where required. |
| The archive does not contain the full 24-hour program | The session exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold. | Do not rely on YouTube to capture a complete replay of a session over 12 hours; use a local recording if a full copy matters. |
| Live streaming is not available yet | The channel may not meet eligibility rules, or first-time activation may still be processing. | Verify the channel and review YouTube’s restrictions and age requirements. Allow up to 24 hours for initial activation. |
