You can broadcast recorded bhajans as a continuous YouTube Live stream by looping the recordings in OBS, connecting OBS to a YouTube encoder broadcast with its stream URL and key, and keeping the computer, power and internet connection running. Before going live, confirm your channel can stream and that you have the rights to every recording and visual. For a continuous broadcast, also make a local recording: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived.
What you need before setting up the stream
- A channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube requires an eligible, verified channel. Check YouTube Studio for access and any restrictions; YouTube says a channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- A computer that can stay on. With OBS, the computer must keep running the stream, and its internet connection and power must remain available. A sleep setting, restart or connection failure can interrupt the broadcast.
- Your recorded bhajans and any visuals. Have the media files ready and confirm you can use them in a live broadcast and, if relevant, keep an archive.
- OBS and a YouTube encoder broadcast. OBS sends the program feed; YouTube Studio supplies the destination URL and stream key.
- Storage for a separate archive. A 24/7 stream is too long to rely on YouTube’s automatic archive guidance alone. Plan a local recording and where its files will be stored.
Clear the rights to the recordings first
Do not assume that a bhajan is free to stream just because its composition is devotional, traditional or old. The composition and a particular recording are distinct: a modern arrangement, performance, accompaniment or sound recording may carry separate rights. You need permission for the actual material in your broadcast, including the music and any visuals.
Keep written records of permissions that cover the sound recording, composition, performers, territories where the stream will be available, and any archive or replay use. YouTube’s livestream terms say creators are responsible for having the necessary rights for live content, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. A licence by itself may not prevent a live interruption: if a rights holder uses Content ID, ask whether it must allowlist your channel before the broadcast.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. An identified match can result in a warning and placeholder image; if the material remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. If the broadcast is archived, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after it ends. Check the stream’s copyright status as well as your own permission records.

Prepare a continuous program in OBS
Choose the recordings and make a playback plan
Decide whether the broadcast will repeat one recording or cycle through a playlist. Check that every file is the intended version, has usable audio, and is covered by your permissions. If you want a visual, prepare a simple scene that can remain on screen while the audio plays. Avoid adding a video or image simply because it is available; it needs rights clearance too.
Add the media and verify looping
In OBS, add the bhajan recording or playlist as a media source, then use the installed version’s media-source or playlist controls to set the intended repeat behavior. OBS controls can vary by version and source type, so verify the specific controls in the version you have installed rather than relying on assumed menu names. Preview the full sequence long enough to confirm that playback continues, returns to the start or advances as intended, and does not leave an unintended silent gap.

Check audio and encoder settings
Watch OBS’s audio meters while the recording plays and confirm that the program audio is routed to the stream. Listen to the preview for clipping, silence, or a mismatch between the picture and sound. Choose a resolution, frame rate, video bitrate, audio bitrate and keyframe interval that match the media and YouTube’s current encoder recommendations. The exact numeric recommendations are not established here; check YouTube’s current guidance in Live Control Room rather than copying a fixed setting that may not fit your source or current requirements. Make sure your available upload connection can sustain the outgoing feed.
Create the YouTube broadcast and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule an encoder broadcast. Set the title and description, choose the audience and visibility, and review moderation options before publishing.
- Choose latency and DVR deliberately. Select latency based on whether real-time chat interaction matters; lower latency can increase playback buffering. Enable DVR if viewers should be able to pause and rewind.
- Copy the stream URL and key from the broadcast settings. In OBS, use YouTube as the streaming destination and enter the provided connection details. Treat the key as a password: do not share it or show it on screen. Reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Start the OBS encoder and check Live Control Room. Confirm that YouTube receives the picture and audio and that the preview is the intended program. Start the public broadcast using the controls for the broadcast you created; check whether it is scheduled or intended to go live immediately.
- Monitor the stream after launch. Check stream health, audio and playback from a viewer’s perspective. Do not assume that a successful preview means the broadcast will remain uninterrupted for a day.
Keep a 24/7 broadcast running and preserve the recording
OBS is a local workflow: the computer running OBS, its power and its internet connection are all part of the broadcast chain. Disable sleep while streaming, keep the machine in a ventilated place, and test what happens after a connection loss or power interruption before depending on it. Monitor the broadcast and have a practical way to reconnect the encoder if needed; the setup does not establish that OBS or YouTube will recover every interruption automatically.

Record a separate local archive and decide how you will rotate and store the files. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; it recommends a local archive as a backup. A continuous broadcast therefore should not depend on YouTube being the only copy. Check that the local recording is actually being created and that storage is not filling up.
What to expect from monetization and the replay
Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are separate. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams, and its July 15, 2025 policy clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content.” Repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible under the originality policy. Reused content is reviewed separately for meaningful original commentary, substantial modification, or educational or entertainment value. Owning or licensing the recordings does not guarantee monetization approval for a looped stream.

Only consider ads if your channel is eligible and monetization is enabled for the stream. YouTube provides ad controls for monetized live streams, but setup alone does not guarantee eligibility or ad delivery. After the broadcast, review the resulting archive and its copyright status separately.

- You cannot create or start an encoder broadcast: Check channel verification, live-stream access and whether YouTube Studio shows a restriction. If there has been a live-streaming restriction within the preceding 90 days, YouTube’s stated eligibility condition is not met.
- YouTube does not receive OBS: Confirm that you selected the broadcast’s current stream URL and key, that the encoder is running, and that the computer has internet access. If the key may have been exposed or is no longer valid, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The preview has no sound: Check that the media is playing, the OBS audio meter moves, and the program audio is routed to the stream. Listen to the preview before taking the broadcast public.
- The bhajan stops or the playlist leaves a gap: Verify the installed OBS source’s playback and repeat settings, then preview a complete loop or transition. Confirm that every file in the sequence is accessible and plays as expected.
- The stream buffers or loses connection: Check stream health and the local internet connection, then verify that the outgoing encoder settings fit the available upload capacity. Lower latency can increase viewer buffering; choose the latency setting based on the interaction you need.
- YouTube warns about third-party content or interrupts the broadcast: Treat the match as a rights issue, not merely a technical fault. Confirm permissions for the specific recording and arrangement, contact the rights holder about any Content ID allowlisting requirement, and do not resume with disputed material unless you have resolved the rights issue.
- The YouTube replay is missing or incomplete: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use the local recording as the backup and check that it was saved and can be played.
