Spoilers for Secret Level season 1, episode 5. The Warhammer 40,000 episode ends with Lieutenant Titus turning to face an approaching horde beside the wounded Metaurus. The available plot summary describes a defiant stand, not a confirmed victory: it does not establish whether either Space Marine survives or whether the orbital strike destroys the relic.
What happens in Secret Level episode 5?
“Warhammer 40,000: And They Shall Know No Fear” is season 1, episode 5 of Secret Level. Apple TV lists the episode as released on December 10, 2024, with a runtime of 19 minutes. Apple TV’s episode listing confirms those details.
The sequence below follows the plot summary surfaced for the episode rather than a verified transcript. It describes Titus and his squad on a mission to destroy a relic. Metaurus remembers recruiting Titus as a boy who already seemed to know no fear. The marines encounter Chaos forces and a psyker carried in a sarcophagus; a Chaos sorcerer then attacks them with visions shaped by their fears. Metaurus sees Titus corrupted before he falls.
Titus withstands the psychic assault, kills the sorcerer and calls his ship to launch an orbital strike on the relic. As cultists advance, Metaurus appears to accept that they are about to die. Titus turns toward the threat instead of yielding to that expectation. The account of the sequence does not establish what happens after that final image.

What does the ending mean?
The ending frames “knowing no fear” as resolve under pressure, not immunity to fear, visions or loss. The sorcerer’s assault is meant to unsettle the marines; Titus’s defining choice is to keep acting despite it. His turn toward the horde answers Metaurus’s apparent resignation: where the veteran expects death, Titus chooses to face the immediate danger.
That makes the final image a cliffhanger rather than a victory scene. The summary says Titus calls an orbital strike, but it does not say the strike lands or show its result. It likewise leaves Titus and Metaurus’s fate unresolved. The ending therefore supports a reading about defiance and duty, not a claim that the two survive, die or complete the mission.

How is the short connected to Warhammer 40,000?
Lieutenant Titus and the Ultramarines
Games Workshop identifies the central character as Lieutenant Titus of the Ultramarines in its official episode announcement. Titus is also familiar from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which makes the short a recognizable character story for players of that game. The supplied official listings establish his identity, but do not give a precise placement for the episode in the game timeline.
Bladeguard Veterans
Games Workshop describes Titus as leading a squad of Bladeguard Veterans. That is the clearest direct tabletop connection: the miniatures associated with the episode’s unit are Bladeguard Veterans. The announcement identifies the unit; it does not establish current stock or a particular retailer listing.

The 41st Millennium and the title
Games Workshop presents the short as a story set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the 41st Millennium. Its title, “And They Shall Know No Fear,” points directly to the episode’s central contrast between terror and steadfast action. The available sources do not verify who says the phrase in the episode, so it should not be assigned to a specific character as dialogue.
