Laura Merritt Walker and her husband, David, announced on Instagram on February 12, 2024, that their three-year-old son Callahan had died in what they called a “tragic accident” the previous week. They did not describe the circumstances. News reports separately said emergency responders had answered a drowning call involving the family, but those accounts did not establish a full explanation of what happened.
What Laura and David Walker announced
In a joint Instagram post on February 12, 2024, Laura and David Walker shared the death of their youngest son, Callahan, who was three years old. Their statement said: “We are completely broken-hearted to share that we lost our precious Callahan in a tragic accident last week.” E! News reported the announcement, as did Univision.
The family did not explain what the accident involved in that announcement. Reports placed his death in the week before February 12, but did not give an exact date.
What was reported about the emergency response
E! News reported that the Frisco Fire Department confirmed responding to a drowning call involving the Walker family and declined to provide further information. Univision separately relayed People’s account that a Frisco police sergeant confirmed officers responded to a call involving a child drowning.
