To send a Zoom meeting to YouTube, enable meeting livestreaming and YouTube in your Zoom web portal, then start the stream as the host. To broadcast the same meeting to YouTube and other services at once, use Zoom’s Live Streaming app: it supports up to three destinations simultaneously. The app’s built-in channel options include YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch; other platforms can be added as custom RTMP destinations.

Choose the right Zoom streaming method

Method Destinations Setup Who starts the stream
Zoom meeting livestreaming setting YouTube, when enabled for the account An account owner or administrator enables meeting livestreaming and selects YouTube as an allowed service. The meeting host starts the stream using the available meeting controls.
Zoom Live Streaming app Up to three services simultaneously; built-in channel options include YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch. Other services can be configured as custom RTMP. Connect and configure channels ahead of the meeting. Custom RTMP requires values supplied by the destination service. Only the host can initiate streams for the current meeting.

For YouTube alone, the account livestreaming setting is the direct route if it is available. For YouTube plus one or more other destinations, the Live Streaming app is the documented option. Zoom says the app’s moderation functionality is supported for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, but not for custom RTMP platforms.

Enable YouTube livestreaming in Zoom

  1. Open the Zoom web portal. An account owner or administrator should review the account’s Meeting settings.
  2. Find “Allow livestreaming of meetings.” Enable the setting and make sure YouTube is selected among the allowed services.
  3. Check whether the setting is locked. If it is unavailable or locked, ask the account owner or administrator to change it; individual users may not control account-wide availability.
  4. Start the meeting as host. Use the YouTube livestream destination if it appears in the meeting controls.

Zoom’s available options depend on account settings and feature availability. Exact labels and controls can change, so confirm them in the current Zoom web portal and support documentation.

Multistream with the Zoom Live Streaming app

  1. Connect destinations before the meeting. Configure the channels in the Zoom Live Streaming app ahead of time so you are not setting up accounts during the broadcast.
  2. Select the destinations. The app supports up to three simultaneous services. Its documented built-in channel connections are YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch; use custom RTMP for another receiving service.
  3. For custom RTMP, collect the destination’s details. Get the RTMP stream URL, stream key, and public viewing-page URL from the service you want to use. Enter the values into Zoom exactly as that service provides them. Do not invent or reuse credentials.
  4. Start the meeting and initiate the streams as host. Participants can open the app, but Zoom says only the host can start streams for the current meeting.
  5. Check each destination’s viewing page. Confirm the broadcast appears where expected and that the correct destinations are receiving it.

Zoom’s app documentation establishes the Zoom-side workflow, not current YouTube channel eligibility or the exact YouTube Studio interface. Check YouTube’s official help and your channel’s current settings for YouTube-side requirements before the event.

Common setup problems

  • YouTube is missing from the meeting controls: Check that “Allow livestreaming of meetings” is enabled and that YouTube is among the permitted services. If the setting is locked, contact the account owner or administrator.
  • The Live Streaming app is not ready at meeting time: Connect and configure channels in advance, as Zoom recommends, rather than waiting until the meeting begins.
  • A custom destination does not receive the stream: Recheck the RTMP URL, stream key, and viewing-page URL against the values supplied by that destination platform.
  • A participant cannot start the stream: Have the host initiate it; Zoom documents host-only stream initiation in the app.
  • Moderation features are unavailable on a custom destination: Zoom documents moderation support for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, not other custom RTMP services.

Or let it run in the cloud

Zoom multistreaming is for broadcasting a live meeting. If your goal is instead to keep an uploaded documentary or other recording playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
