But YouTube does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 broadcasting or certify a particular Indian cloud provider. Whether you can operate without GST registration is a separate question: it depends on your state or union territory, aggregate turnover, revenue sources, and whether a compulsory-registration rule or exception applies. The available information does not settle an individual creator’s GST position.
Can an Indian cloud service keep a YouTube stream live 24/7?
Potentially. YouTube supports livestreaming through an encoder, and a cloud-hosted encoder can send a live feed without relying on a computer at your home. That is a possible workflow, not a YouTube-certified service category or a guarantee that a particular cloud plan will run continuously.
YouTube’s live-streaming documentation lists encoder, mobile, webcam, and console options. Its encoder guidance covers workflows such as gameplay, overlays, and audio or video hardware. See YouTube’s overview of live streaming and encoder setup and settings. These pages explain YouTube’s tools; they do not validate an Indian provider’s reliability, price, or suitability for your particular source.
What to verify before choosing a cloud plan
- Sustained compute capacity: confirm the plan can run your chosen encoder and content continuously, not just during a brief trial.
- Outbound bandwidth and traffic charges: check the usable transfer allowance and what additional traffic costs. A continuously transmitted stream creates a recurring network workload.
- Recovery and monitoring: find out how the provider handles a crashed encoder or restarted virtual machine, and whether you can detect a dropped process or stream.
- Region and network stability: compare the service location, route to YouTube, and any latency or stability information the provider makes available.
- Protocol and format: check that the setup supports the intended codec, resolution, frame rate, and RTMPS connection.
- Total cost: include compute, storage, bandwidth, monitoring, and any support charges over the period you expect to stream.
These are evaluation criteria for a continuous workload, not findings about any particular provider. No provider-specific 24/7 performance or pricing is established here.

YouTube settings and rules to check
YouTube recommends testing before going live, monitoring stream health, and using RTMPS. Match encoder bitrate and capacity to the resolution and codec you select; YouTube’s encoder settings page gives its recommendations. For example, it lists H.264 recommendations of 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. Those are YouTube platform recommendations, not a measured cloud-compute requirement for every workflow. Review the current YouTube encoder settings and test with representative audio and motion before relying on a continuous broadcast.
- Stream key: use YouTube’s stream setup and encoder instructions to connect the encoder. Treat the key as a credential; do not publish it or share it with an untrusted service.
- Capacity limits: YouTube’s live documentation states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. These are platform limits, not a promise of availability.
- Content rules: livestreams remain subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube reserves the right to restrict livestreaming. A 24/7 schedule does not exempt a channel or its content from those rules.
- Rights and monetization: make sure you have rights to the video, music, and other material you broadcast. Copyright compliance and monetization eligibility are separate from GST registration; neither is resolved merely by using a cloud encoder.
Read YouTube’s live-streaming guidance alongside the encoder settings before launch, and check the live health indicators during a representative test.

Does running the stream without GST registration depend on the cloud provider?
Not by itself. The fact that an encoder or hosting service is in India does not determine whether a creator must register for GST. Registration depends on the creator’s own supplies and circumstances under the applicable provisions, including aggregate turnover, location, and any compulsory-registration rule or exception.
The Telangana State GST Department’s November 2025 handbook describes a general registration threshold of ₹20 lakh aggregate turnover in a financial year, or ₹10 lakh in specified special-category states. Treat those figures as orientation, not an individualized answer: threshold rules do not dispose of cases in which compulsory-registration provisions or an exception may apply. The handbook is available through the Telangana State GST Department; also consult the CBIC GST FAQ with current notifications and your facts rather than treating a broad FAQ statement as a complete legal opinion.

Why the cloud-export circular does not settle a creator’s GST position
CBIC Circular 232/26/2024-GST addresses a specific transaction: an Indian data-hosting provider supplying services to an overseas cloud-computing entity. Dated 10 September 2024, it says that this supply can be considered an export of services if the other conditions in section 2(6) of the IGST Act are met. It does not decide whether a creator’s YouTube-related receipts are exports, who the recipient is, whether the creator crosses a registration threshold, or whether another registration provision applies.
In particular, buying cloud hosting as a creator is not the same fact pattern as an Indian data-hosting company supplying an overseas cloud entity. Do not use the circular as a blanket exemption for creators. Read CBIC Circular 232/26/2024-GST for its stated scope.

Facts needed for an individual answer
Before deciding whether registration is required, assemble these details for a qualified Indian GST practitioner if the answer is not clear:
- Your state or union territory and whether you operate as an individual, proprietorship, or another entity.
- Your aggregate turnover across relevant supplies, not just income from the livestream.
- Whether the stream is monetized, what payments you receive, who pays them, and where that recipient is located.
- Whether you make other taxable supplies and whether a registration exception or compulsory-registration provision applies.
If any of these facts are unknown, your personal GST position remains unresolved. A practitioner can apply the current rules to your actual supplies; the general threshold and the cloud-export circular cannot substitute for that assessment.
