The best tool depends on whether you want to schedule one recording, run a finite playlist as an event, or keep a YouTube channel streaming continuously. For a scheduled playlist event, Restream documents playlist scheduling with defined limits; for one scheduled recording, StreamYard offers unattended playback; for a continuous prerecorded channel, StreamNeo is a cloud option that loops uploaded videos without keeping a computer running.

These workflows are not interchangeable. A scheduled event has a start and finish; a continuous channel needs an encoder or cloud playout service to keep sending video. YouTube itself does not provide a built-in way to loop an uploaded video as a live RTMP broadcast, according to StreamNeo’s guide: How to Loop a Video on YouTube Live.
Best for a scheduled playlist event: Restream
Restream’s Help Center article, published July 25, 2026, describes assembling and scheduling an ordered playlist from uploaded videos. It covers adding graphics, captions, or QR codes, previewing the playlist, and scheduling it. The documented maximum is 40 entries and a combined playlist length of 24 hours. Duplicate files count as entries.
Limits to consider
- Restream says playlist functionality is available on paid Upload & Stream add-on tiers.
- The same Help Center page lists Marathon at $79/month, with a four-hour video library and up to 1080p, and Media at $239/month, with a 12-hour library and up to 4K. These are Restream’s listed prices on that page, not a guaranteed current quote; confirm plan details before subscribing.
- Once a playlist is live, videos cannot be added, removed, or reordered. Graphics and chat can still be changed.
- Back-to-back playlists run as separate streams with a two-minute buffer. Restream says a playlist cannot combine prerecorded items with live content.

Best for a scheduled single recording: StreamYard
StreamYard’s prerecorded feature automatically starts the selected video at its scheduled time and ends when playback finishes. It is a scheduled prerecorded broadcast, not an always-on playlist channel.
Plan-dependent limits and workflow
- StreamYard documents a maximum prerecorded video length of two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Team and Business. Scheduling horizons and the number of simultaneous events also vary by plan.
- Prerecorded broadcasts stream at up to 1080p on paid plans.
- Without an announcement post, the destination watch link does not appear until the stream goes live. If an announcement is scheduled, the shareable YouTube link appears at announcement time.
- Because playback runs automatically outside the live studio, overlays, media assets, and on-stream comments are unavailable in this mode.

DIY continuous playout: computer or server
If you prefer to operate the encoder yourself, the two broad approaches are running encoder software on a computer or managing a server. - Describe recordings and schedules accurately; do not imply that archived footage or a loop is happening live.
