The available Restream instructions do not establish that it can repeat a video continuously or match OneStream Live’s loop duration, so verify repeat behavior before switching.
What moves—and what you need to rebuild
Your video file and YouTube event are separate from the streaming configuration in OneStream Live. Keep the source video accessible, then recreate the broadcast setup in Restream. The reviewed instructions do not document an importer that transfers an existing OneStream loop configuration to Restream.
OneStream Live’s Help Center says a pre-recorded video can be looped up to 60 times in its standard loop workflow; the article was last updated September 21, 2026. Its separate 24/7 mode is described as YouTube-only. Check the features and duration available on your current OneStream account before relying on either mode. 1. Record the current video and event setup
Before changing services, save the source video somewhere you can select it in Restream, and note the details you want to retain. OneStream’s loop instructions allow selecting a video from a device, OneStream storage, or cloud storage; its first-stream guide covers entering stream details and scheduling. - YouTube channel and event URL, if an event already exists
- Title, description, visibility, and scheduled start time
- Video file or playlist, plus the intended number of plays or total duration
- Whether YouTube auto-start and auto-stop are enabled for the event
YouTube’s event settings and stream credentials are managed separately in Live Control Room. Do not treat the OneStream service setup or its credentials as automatically transferable to Restream. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings
2. Decide whether to keep the YouTube event
Connect an existing event
If you want to preserve the existing event URL and its audience-facing listing, use Restream’s documented existing-event route. In Restream, connect the YouTube channel, select it as a destination, and choose the existing event when the option appears. Confirm that the selected event is the intended one and check its title, visibility, and schedule in YouTube. Create a new event
Choose a new event if the existing listing should not be reused or is unsuitable for the replacement stream. This creates a new YouTube event rather than transferring the old one; share the new event URL with viewers if needed.
3. Create the replacement stream in Restream
- In Restream, select New Stream.
- Choose the documented event workflow that fits your source: Studio, RTMP, Video File, or Playlist.
- Enter the event details and schedule, then select the connected YouTube channel and either the existing event or a new one.
- Select the video or playlist you saved, and set its playback behavior using the controls available in your account.
- Review the destination and event details before starting the stream.
These are the event creation choices in Restream’s documented workflow. That article does not establish that Restream supports an indefinite single-video loop or the same repetition limit as OneStream Live. 4. Check start and stop behavior before switching
Restream notes that YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings affect the actions required from the operator:
- If YouTube auto-start is disabled, start the stream from Restream, then click Go Live on YouTube.
- If YouTube auto-stop is disabled, stop the stream in Restream, then click End Live on YouTube.
Check those settings on the actual YouTube event you plan to use. A stream that has started in Restream may not yet be live to viewers if YouTube still requires a manual start. Restream: Stream to an existing YouTube Event

5. Verify the replacement before retiring the old setup
Where practical, confirm the new stream before relying on it as the replacement. Check the channel and event, visibility and scheduled time, selected video or playlist, audio and picture, and whether playback ends or repeats as intended. This verification matters especially for long broadcasts because the cited Restream event instructions do not specify loop duration limits.
Common switching problems
- The old event is missing in Restream: Confirm you connected the correct YouTube channel and that the event belongs to it. If it still is not selectable, create a new event or use Restream’s documented custom RTMP route for an existing event.
- The stream starts in Restream but viewers do not see it live: Check whether YouTube auto-start is disabled; if so, click Go Live in YouTube Live Control Room.
- The event remains live after you stop sending video: Check whether auto-stop is disabled; if so, click End Live on YouTube.
- The video does not repeat for the intended duration: Check the playback controls and limits in your Restream account. Do not assume OneStream’s documented maximum of 60 repetitions or its separate 24/7 mode applies to Restream.
- The event details differ from the old listing: Review the title, description, privacy, schedule, and event URL. Connecting a stream to an event is not the same as importing the old streaming configuration.
