How to Add Episode Titles to a 24/7 Children’s YouTube Stream Without Stopping It

To show the current episode name without stopping a 24/7 YouTube stream, add a title card or lower third to the outgoing video. Keep the broadcast’s YouTube title for the overall show.

Keep one title for the continuous YouTube broadcast, and put each changing episode name into the video itself as a title card or lower third. Editing the stream’s YouTube title changes broadcast metadata; it does not create an on-screen title that changes with each episode.

Choose where each title should appear

A continuous live stream is one YouTube video with broadcast-level title and description fields. You can edit those fields while managing the stream, but they describe the overall broadcast—not the episode currently playing. The YouTube API documentation likewise says that a broadcast represents exactly one YouTube video (LiveBroadcasts).

What you want viewers to see Use this What it changes
The name of the continuous show Edit the broadcast metadata in YouTube Studio or through the API The title or description of the broadcast/video—not text inside the picture. (YouTube Help; API update reference)
The name of the episode currently playing Add a title card or lower third to the outgoing program video The image viewers see during playback. Your production workflow must show or render the graphic at the episode transition. (iTechGuides)

Add an episode title without ending the stream

  1. Keep the broadcast identity stable. Give the continuous stream a clear show or channel title. Add “live” if that helps viewers understand what they are watching. One broadcast has one title and description; the changing episode name belongs elsewhere.
  2. Prepare a graphic for each episode. Create a title card to show at the episode opening, or a lower third that appears over the program for an appropriate interval. This is a production choice; YouTube’s metadata documentation does not specify a graphics tool or how long an episode title should remain on screen.
  3. Put the graphic in the outgoing program. Use the production system that assembles the video viewers see to insert or switch to the relevant graphic at each episode boundary. Keep the stream running while the program output moves from one episode to the next.
  4. Check the actual picture. Confirm the right title appears at the transition and is readable at typical mobile viewing size. This is a practical quality check, not a YouTube setting.
  5. Use YouTube Studio for changes to the overall broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, select the stream, then use its settings or Edit controls to change the stream information. YouTube Help describes editing metadata from the stream settings page or while scheduling; its instructions cover encoder or mobile streams, not webcam streams (Manage live stream settings).

Help viewers find episodes in the description

Add an episode guide to the broadcast description, with episode names and approximate start times when useful. This gives viewers a written reference alongside the on-screen title. If DVR is enabled, YouTube says viewers can pause, rewind and continue during a live stream (YouTube Help).

Automate broadcast-title changes only when the overall metadata should change

The YouTube Live Streaming API’s liveBroadcasts.update method supports updates to snippet.title and snippet.description. It requires authorization and a broadcast resource ID. The API reference warns that an update omitting a property that already has a value can delete that value. An updater should retrieve the current broadcast, preserve settings it needs to keep, and submit the intended metadata deliberately (LiveBroadcasts: update).

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The API reference lists a title range of 1–100 characters and a description limit of 5,000 characters. Those are API validation constraints; confirm the current Studio interface behavior before building a workflow that depends on them (LiveBroadcasts: update).

Changing metadata—manually or through the API—still changes the continuous broadcast’s title or description, not the pixels in the outgoing video. Do not change the stream key to try to display an episode title: the key and incoming feed are separate from broadcast metadata (Life of a Broadcast).
