You can stream recorded annual day performances as a YouTube Live event by scheduling a stream in YouTube Studio, sending the video playlist through an encoder, and setting that playlist to repeat in the encoder. YouTube’s Live Control Room provides the stream URL and key; it does not document a native repeat-playlist switch. Before broadcasting, secure rights for the recordings and music, confirm permission to show identifiable students to the intended audience, and test the entire loop.
Choose how the loop will run
The playback software or service—not YouTube’s Live Control Room—controls the playlist and repeat behavior. Choose an approach based on who will monitor the event and whether a school computer can remain powered and connected for the whole stream.

YouTube’s encoder guidance names Gyre as an example of a cloud-based service for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming; that mention is not an endorsement and does not establish its current features, India availability, or pricing. Confirm rights, audience, and student privacy first
Resolve permissions before preparing the public stream. A school performance can include copyrighted songs, backing tracks, choreography, scripts, visuals, and third-party recordings. Confirm that the school has permission for recording, online live communication, the intended geographic reach, and replay access. YouTube’s terms require the provider to hold necessary rights worldwide, including music rights: YouTube Livestream terms and conditions.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may trigger a warning and placeholder; continued use can result in temporary interruption or termination. Even if a rights owner has licensed the content, it may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
India’s Copyright Act contains a limited-audience exception for certain performances in the course of educational-institution activities. Its wording describes an audience connected with the institution, including staff, students, parents or guardians, and persons connected with institutional activities. A public YouTube stream may be accessible beyond that group, so do not assume the exception automatically authorizes a public broadcast or replay. Get rights-holder permissions or qualified legal advice for the specific event and distribution.

Obtain documented parent or guardian permission for identifiable students, explain who can watch and how long the recording may remain available, and plan an exclusion or alternate shot for students without permission. A Ministry of Electronics & IT release dated 12 December 2025 says the DPDP Act, 2023 and Rules, 2025 were notified on 13 November 2025; it describes verifiable parental consent for processing children’s personal data and certain educational-institution exemptions. Ask the school’s privacy or legal lead to check current applicability to the proposed recording, stream, and archive.
Prepare the video playlist
- Collect the approved files. Use the final recordings and confirm which performances may be shown live and retained in a replay.
- Arrange the programme. Put the files in the intended running order. Check that opening and closing material makes sense when the playlist repeats.
- Configure repeat in the encoder. Use the chosen playback software’s playlist or repeat controls. YouTube’s documented encoder workflow does not provide a native Live Control Room repeat-playlist setting.
- Check the loop transition. Test the last file into the first. Remove unwanted long silence, black frames, or a one-time ending slate that would look odd on every repeat.
- Keep a separate source copy. Preserve the original recordings and verify any local archive or backup. YouTube recommends checking local archive integrity; an external drive can be useful for backup but is not required to stream.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Open Manage and schedule a stream or create one. Enter an accurate title, description, thumbnail, audience choice, privacy setting, and start time.
- Share the scheduled watch URL with families if appropriate. For a rehearsal, unlisted visibility may be suitable; inspect the selected privacy setting rather than relying on a default.
- Review visibility carefully. YouTube says streamers aged 13–17 default to private, while adult streamers default to public; streamers can change visibility.
- Open the Stream tab and copy the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s corresponding fields. Treat the key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
Test, start, and monitor the event
YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the planned event. Use an unlisted rehearsal with the same files and audio behavior when that fits the school’s privacy plan.

- Start the encoder and wait for the preview in Live Control Room.
- Check picture and sound, playlist order, and the transition from the last file back to the first.
- Open the watch page and verify that it is accessible to the intended audience. Check playback on a phone as well as the event computer.
- Confirm that any local recording or backup is being written and can be opened. Monitor stream health and keep a responsible operator available to respond to a failure.
- At the scheduled time, select Go live in Live Control Room.
End the stream and review the replay
When the event is over, select End stream and stop the encoder feed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Review the replay for copyright claims, technical problems, and student privacy. Decide whether it should remain public, become unlisted or private, or be removed; permission for a live event should not be assumed to authorize an indefinite public archive.
