Watch the OBS audio meter and compare a local recording with YouTube’s live preview and stream-health indicators before changing network settings. OBS-reported dropped frames point to a connection or bitrate problem; they do not, by themselves, prove that Airtel broadband—or audio capture—is at fault.
Locate where the audio disappears
Use the same test segment to compare what you hear at the source, what OBS shows, and what reaches YouTube. The result narrows the fault without assuming that “dropping” means silence, intermittent cutouts, or audio missing only from the live output.

OBS defines dropped frames as a connection to the remote server that is not stable or an inability to keep up with the set bitrate. That status concerns stream delivery; it is not a diagnosis of the audio source. OBS Stream Connection Troubleshooting (dated September 30, 2024).
Check the audio source and OBS routing first
Listen before and after the signal reaches OBS
- Play the podcast and listen at the playback device or other source as early in the signal path as possible.
- Watch the relevant meter in OBS’s Audio Mixer while the source plays. If it is not moving as expected, check the source device and its physical gain or level, then check the relevant operating-system and application volume controls.
- Use OBS Audio Monitoring to listen to the signal after it reaches OBS. Compare that with what you hear directly from the source.
- Record a representative segment in OBS and listen to the recording before going live. If the recording is already missing audio, focus on the source, device, or OBS path rather than YouTube ingest.

Confirm the intended input and remove duplicate routes
Verify that the intended device is selected and active in the scene or global audio configuration. OBS warns that adding an Audio Input/Output Capture source for a device already selected in Settings → Audio can duplicate that device and cause echo. If you use a scene-level capture source, check whether the same device is also routed through global audio settings and disable the duplicate route if appropriate. Check OBS network delivery only when the indicators point there
If the OBS meter and local recording are sound but the live output is not, or OBS reports dropped frames, inspect the OBS status and log for the time the interruption occurred. The log and the timing of the problem can help distinguish an input failure from a delivery problem.

- Note whether OBS reports dropped frames during the same interval that YouTube loses audio or the stream falters.
- If you are on Wi-Fi, test the stream over a wired connection. A wired test can help identify Wi-Fi-related instability; it is not a guaranteed fix for missing audio.
- Lower the video bitrate and test whether OBS can sustain the stream. OBS suggests 75% of total upload as a starting point, not a guaranteed setting for every service, connection, or shared household. Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain consistently.
- Check the router, modem, and other network hardware. If the problem persists, keep the OBS log and test results for escalation to your ISP.
OBS’s guidance also notes that ISP-side changes or route congestion may be outside the streamer’s control. A speed test or advertised plan speed alone does not establish that a live ingest route is stable.
Compare OBS with YouTube’s live preview and health
YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate, testing with representative audio and movement before an event, and monitoring stream health while live. It recommends RTMPS for YouTube Live. Compare the OBS meter and local recording with YouTube’s live preview and health indications: if the first two are good but YouTube’s output is not, investigate the stream output and ingest path rather than changing audio input settings at random. When to contact Airtel
The evidence here does not establish an Airtel-specific fault, outage, plan limitation, or setting. Contact Airtel only after the OBS and YouTube indicators suggest a persistent network-delivery problem—for example, OBS continues to show network drops during a wired test at a conservative bitrate.
- Record the time and duration of the interruption.
- Save the OBS log covering that time.
- Note the result of an upload test and whether the stream was wired or on Wi-Fi.
- Record what YouTube’s stream-health indicators showed at the same time.
These details describe the observed fault more usefully than attributing it to Airtel based on the symptom alone.
