Prefer RTMPS when supported. FFmpeg can repeat one file with -stream_loop -1; a playlist of multiple files needs a separate concat workflow, compatible media, and transition testing. A continuous stream also requires an unattended computer or server, a stable upload connection, monitoring, and a recovery plan.
Choose encoding settings for the source
YouTube’s encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video, up to 60 fps, AAC or MP3 audio, and CBR bitrate encoding. For a broadly compatible FFmpeg setup, use H.264 and AAC. Match the output resolution and frame rate to the material rather than upscaling it or selecting the highest available bitrate by default. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube encoder settings

These are YouTube ingest recommendations, not guarantees of image quality or evidence that a particular connection can sustain the stream. Leave upload headroom for connection variation and other network use, then test. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health during the event. YouTube encoder settings
Create the YouTube live event and protect its key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream using an encoder. Follow YouTube’s current account prompts and event options. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event into the encoder’s publishing configuration. YouTube describes the key as the password and address that tell the encoder where to send the feed and allow YouTube to accept it. Treat it as a secret: do not publish it, include it in a public script, or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
- Choose the RTMPS ingest URL if FFmpeg supports it. RTMPS is RTMP delivered over TLS/SSL; YouTube explains how to obtain its secure URL here: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
Loop one video file
For one input file, FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 repeats that input indefinitely. It is an input option, so put it before the corresponding -i. FFmpeg options generally apply to the next input or output, making their order important. FFmpeg command-line documentation

ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -i "video.mp4" -c:v libx264 -b:v 8M -minrate 8M -maxrate 8M -bufsize 16M -r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -f flv "RTMPS_URL/STREAM_KEY"This is an example for a 720p, 30 fps H.264 output with a two-second GOP and an 8 Mbps video target, matching YouTube’s recommended bitrate setting for that format. It is not a universal command: it re-encodes to H.264 and AAC, assumes the chosen output frame rate is appropriate, and uses the ingest URL and key supplied for your event. Replace RTMPS_URL/STREAM_KEY with the exact publishing target provided by YouTube; do not expose the key. For a 1080p, 30 fps stream, YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate setting is 14 Mbps; adjust the encoding target and buffer accordingly. Confirm the actual resolution, frame rate, codecs, and audio layout of your file before choosing settings.
The command sets the video target and maximum to the same value for a CBR-style output, uses a 60-frame GOP at 30 fps (two seconds), and encodes AAC audio. If the input has incompatible dimensions, frame rate, or audio, the output may need explicit filters or other adjustments. Test the resulting stream in Live Control Room rather than assuming that a command accepted by FFmpeg guarantees a healthy YouTube ingest.

Build a playlist from multiple files
-stream_loop -1 repeats a single input; it does not create a playlist of separate files. One FFmpeg option for multiple files is the concat demuxer. Its input list and stream-copy suitability depend on the files. FFmpeg documents concat and other formats in its formats documentation.
- Inspect the media files and check that their video and audio stream properties are compatible before attempting stream copy.
- Create a concat-demuxer list in the required format for your files, then test it as an input. Consult the FFmpeg format documentation for the exact list syntax and limitations.
- If the files differ in dimensions, frame rates, codecs, or audio layout, normalize or re-encode them to a consistent output rather than assuming they can be stream-copied together.
- Watch and listen across every transition. Check for freezes, black frames, audio gaps, abrupt level changes, and timing differences before leaving the playlist unattended.
There is no single safe playlist command for every collection of Telugu videos. The correct concat and encoding approach depends on the files and installed FFmpeg build, so validate the specific list rather than copying a command written for different media.

Test, monitor, and plan for recovery
Before starting a continuous broadcast, test representative material from the playlist, including both motion and audio. YouTube Help says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” It also recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitoring stream health and messages during the event. YouTube encoder settings
FFmpeg’s network protocol options include reconnection behavior for network errors and treating EOF as an error for live or endless inputs. Those options do not by themselves guarantee that FFmpeg will restore a YouTube publishing session after every interruption. For an unattended setup, arrange monitoring and a way to restart or recover the encoder, and verify that the event is still receiving a signal after any interruption. FFmpeg protocol documentation

YouTube’s encoder creation page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish the normal archive behavior of one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast; check current YouTube guidance for the event rather than assuming it will be archived as expected. Technical settings do not establish whether a particular account may run a continuous prerecorded playlist or whether its contents comply with YouTube policies. Check the current Live Control Room status and applicable YouTube rules before scheduling. Make sure you have the rights needed for every video, song, recording, and other element in the playlist; a Telugu-language devotional or documentary selection is not exempt from copyright requirements. Do not assume that looping prerecorded material will qualify for monetization or satisfy any reused-content policy. The cited encoder setup guidance does not settle those eligibility and policy questions.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube receives no signal: Recheck the event’s stream URL and key, including whether the key belongs to the active event. Verify that the key was not altered or exposed, and confirm FFmpeg’s output target and connection.
- Stream health reports instability: Check that the upload connection can sustain the selected bitrate with headroom. Test at the intended resolution and frame rate; lower the target if the connection cannot sustain it.
- Video looks poor or drops frames: Confirm that the output matches the source and that the chosen bitrate is appropriate for its resolution and frame rate. YouTube’s figures are ingest recommendations, not a promise about an individual network.
- Playlist breaks at a file boundary: Check stream compatibility and inspect the transition. Normalize or re-encode differing files instead of relying on stream copy across mismatched media.
- Stream does not resume after an interruption: Do not treat input reconnection flags as a complete publishing-session supervisor. Check the encoder process and YouTube’s stream health, then use the restart or recovery procedure prepared for the deployment.
- Uncertain archive or policy outcome: The under-12-hour archive statement does not establish behavior for a continuous 24/7 event, and encoder instructions do not confirm account eligibility. Check current YouTube guidance and Live Control Room status.
