How to Stream a Looping Coaching Class Recording to YouTube Live in India

Use an encoder to send a coaching-class recording to YouTube Live, configure and test looping in that encoder, and check broadcast rights before going public.

You can stream a recorded coaching class as a YouTube Live broadcast by sending it through an encoder such as OBS. YouTube handles the live event; the encoder plays the recording and must be configured to repeat it if you want a loop. YouTube Studio does not provide a universal “loop this file” switch. Enable live streaming in advance, test the full setup privately or as unlisted, and confirm you have permission for everything shown or heard in the class.

Before you set up the stream

Check that your channel can go live

YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so activate it well before your planned broadcast. YouTube describes encoders as tools that let creators “stream gameplay, overlays, and use hardware like preamps, mics, and cameras.” A prerecorded class can be supplied to an encoder as its video source. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements

Clear rights and protect learner information

You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast the recording. Check the class video, slides, music, clips, images, guest contributions, and any learner names, faces, voices, or other personal information it contains. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; it may interrupt or terminate a stream if it identifies material, and an archive may later receive a Content ID claim. If you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams

Indian copyright law includes a specific exception framework, not a blanket permission to rebroadcast any class publicly because it is educational. The Copyright Office describes “communication to the public” broadly, and its explanation of Section 52 includes certain educational-institution activities for defined audiences. Whether an exception applies depends on facts such as the institution, audience, permissions, and works included in the recording. YouTube’s livestream terms also place responsibility on the content provider to hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services and to comply with applicable law. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0

Choose how to play and loop the recording

Local encoder: OBS or another encoder

A local encoder gives you control over playback and the broadcast, but the computer and network must stay available for the stream to continue. Configure the recording as the encoder’s media source and set the repeat behavior in that software. Software versions and source settings differ, so test that the file actually restarts at the end without a gap or an unintended transition. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain how to send a stream, but do not specify a universal control for looping a local file. YouTube encoder setup

Managed cloud streaming

YouTube’s encoder guide names Gyre as “A cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of pre-recorded videos on YouTube.” That description is from YouTube Help, not an independent performance test. Check the service’s current loop controls, availability in India, scheduling, recovery behavior, and price directly before choosing it; the cited guidance does not establish those details. Set up the YouTube Live event and encoder

  1. Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Check the event’s privacy setting; use private or unlisted for a rehearsal rather than broadcasting a test publicly.
  2. Copy the ingest details. In the event’s stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share or publish it, and regenerate it if it is exposed. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder connections. YouTube’s encoder instructions
  3. Add and test the recording source. In OBS or your selected encoder, add the class recording as the media source and enable repeat or loop behavior in that tool if needed. Play through the end and confirm that it starts again as intended. Check the video, audio, and any on-screen material; do not assume YouTube will repeat the file for you.
  4. Set output to match the recording. Choose a resolution and frame rate that your source, encoder, and upload connection can sustain. Use constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, as in YouTube’s technical recommendations. Select an outgoing bitrate appropriate to the chosen resolution and frame rate using YouTube’s current settings guidance; do not raise it beyond what your connection can sustain. YouTube recommended encoder settings
  5. Check upload capacity. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the stream’s bitrate. Measure or test the connection you will actually use, preferably at the broadcast location and time. An optional ethernet cable can reduce reliance on Wi-Fi if your computer or adapter and router support it, but it cannot increase your ISP’s upload capacity or solve every network problem. YouTube bandwidth guidance

Preflight, go live, and end the broadcast

Rehearse before the scheduled start

YouTube advises setting up encoders at least two hours before an event and starting them at least 15 minutes ahead of its scheduled time. Start the encoder and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the event can be viewed from the relevant channel or watch page and on a mobile device, then check picture, sound, and the recording’s loop. If you are recording an archive locally as a backup, verify that the file is growing. Use a representative section with speech, movement, and any music or shared media.

Start and monitor

  1. Start the encoder and wait until Live Control Room shows the incoming stream preview.
  2. When using the scheduled-event workflow, select “Go live” in Live Control Room at the appropriate time.
  3. Monitor the broadcast while it runs. Watch for dropped connection or encoding warnings, and listen for muted, distorted, or missing audio. Check that the source has restarted when it reaches the end.
  4. When finished, end the event in Live Control Room and stop the encoder. YouTube’s encoder instructions state that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; review the resulting archive for playback, audio, and any claims. YouTube encoder instructions

Troubleshoot common problems

  • No preview in Live Control Room: Confirm the encoder is running, the correct server URL and stream key are entered, and the key belongs to the event you created. Re-copy the details from that event; regenerate the key if it may have been exposed.
  • Connection drops or stream warnings appear: Check that the upload connection is stable and has YouTube’s recommended headroom. Reduce the outgoing bitrate or output demands if the connection cannot sustain the selected settings, then test again. A wired connection may help where Wi-Fi is the weak link, but not where available upload capacity is insufficient.
  • The recording stops instead of repeating: The loop is controlled by the encoder or service, not a universal YouTube event setting. Recheck the selected source’s repeat option and test a complete playback cycle before relying on it for a long broadcast.
  • Video or audio is missing or wrong: Confirm the intended media source is active and that the encoder’s output includes its audio. Test the same recording and settings before the public event, then verify the preview and monitor sound while live.
  • YouTube interrupts the stream or the archive gets a claim: Review the identified material and your rights to use it. A license may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID; having permission does not guarantee that automated matching will not interrupt the stream.
