To use a phone as a second camera in Streamlabs Desktop, add a Collab Cam source, create its invite link, open that link on the phone, allow camera access, and then show and position the feed in your scene. Check the audio separately: the host may hear the phone while viewers do not.
Set up Collab Cam in Streamlabs Desktop
- Check your main setup. Open Streamlabs Desktop, connect the streaming account or platform you plan to use, and confirm your primary camera and microphone work.
- Add the source. In the Sources panel, select the plus button and add Collab Cam. Open the source and start Collab Cam to create its invite link. The interface can change, so if the label or placement differs, check the current Streamlabs Desktop help guide: How to Use Streamlabs Desktop Collab Cam.
- Open the invite on the second device. Send the link to your spare phone or tablet, or open it there directly. Streamlabs’ iPhone/iPad walkthrough says to use a browser and choose the camera to share; its pet-cam guide says a camera-equipped device with internet access and a browser can work without a special camera app.
- Allow camera access. When prompted on the phone, grant the browser permission to use its camera. Select the camera you want to use if the device offers a choice.
- Check and reveal the feed. Confirm that the feed appears in Streamlabs Desktop. Select Show on Stream when you are ready for viewers to see it; check your composition before revealing it during a live broadcast.
- Place the second angle. Resize and position the source in your scene. For a documentary, workshop, or demonstration stream, an overhead or side view can show a work surface, instrument, cooking area, keyboard, or controller without replacing the main camera.
Streamlabs’ phone walkthrough is here: Streamlabs Collab Cam for iPhone/iPad. Its spare-device guidance is in How to Use Streamlabs Collab Cam for a Pet Cam.
Check the phone’s audio before going live
Do not assume the phone’s microphone is automatically part of the audience mix. Streamlabs’ Desktop guide notes that the host may hear a guest even when the audience cannot. Make a short private recording or another safe pre-live check and listen to the recorded result. If viewers cannot hear the phone audio, Streamlabs suggests adding an extra microphone source; its guide does not give a universal routing fix, so confirm the source and mix in your own setup.
Keep the invite link private
Treat the invite as access to your Collab Cam session. Share it only with the intended, trusted participant. If you think the link has escaped that circle, use Generate a new link; Streamlabs says this invalidates the previous link. Avoid showing the invite or setup screens while sharing your screen during an active stream.

Desktop and Mobile use different workflows
This setup is for Streamlabs Desktop: the host adds Collab Cam from Sources and shares a browser invite with the phone. In Streamlabs Mobile, the host instead adds a camera or guest as a scene layer, adjusts its position and size, and copies or generates the invite link from that layer’s settings. Follow the guide for the app you are hosting from: How to Use Collab Cam on Streamlabs Mobile.

Free use and Ultra guest limits
Streamlabs’ Collab Cam product page describes one free guest and says Streamlabs Ultra supports up to 11 additional guests or camera angles. However, the Desktop support guide gives a different Ultra figure: up to four guests. These are conflicting Streamlabs claims, not independently verified capacity measurements. Check the current plan details and the live app before relying on a particular paid-tier limit. The basic single-guest second-camera use case is described as free on the product page: Streamlabs Collab Cam.
Optional physical setup
A phone mount or tripod can help hold a fixed overhead or side angle, but it is not required by Collab Cam. Streamlabs’ device guidance calls for a camera, internet access, and a browser; it does not endorse a particular phone, mount, or tripod. For long sessions, consider power and lighting as practical production choices rather than feature requirements.

Or let it run in the cloud
Collab Cam is for adding a live camera angle to a Streamlabs production. If instead you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded videos as a 24/7 live stream, StreamNeo runs that playback in the cloud: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free day.
