You can run a hotel promotion video as a YouTube Live loop by playing it in OBS Studio on a mini PC and sending OBS to YouTube with an encoder stream key. Add the video as a looping Media Source, configure a YouTube stream, then test the complete setup—including the PC and network—before relying on it unattended. A loop setting alone does not ensure a continuous broadcast.
Before you set up the loop
Clear the rights to every element
Make sure the hotel has permission to broadcast every visual, logo, voice recording, and music track in the promotional video. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the broadcaster. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a warning, a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. If the hotel has licensed third-party material, the rights holder may need to allowlist the channel. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
Check that the channel can go live
The channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so confirm access well before the planned launch. YouTube’s streaming tips and encoder setup guidance explain the eligibility and setup requirements.
Prepare the PC, file, and connection
Choose output settings that the actual mini PC can encode and the available upload connection can sustain. The available guidance does not establish minimum mini PC specifications or certify any particular model for continuous use. Test the exact hardware, video file, scene, resolution, frame rate, and network configuration you intend to use.

YouTube recommends leaving 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the total stream bitrate. Account for other devices and hotel office traffic sharing the connection; the connection’s advertised speed is not necessarily the bandwidth available to OBS. YouTube’s network and streaming tips cover bandwidth and stream health.
Set up the video loop in OBS
Loop one promotional video

Open OBS Studio and create a scene for the hotel promotion.

In the scene’s Sources area, add a Media Source and select the local video file.

Enable the source’s Loop option, then confirm the file plays with sound and picture.

Let the video reach its end once. Check that playback starts again as intended and that the transition is acceptable before you take the stream public.

Use a playlist when the promotion has several clips
If the promotion consists of multiple assets, add a VLC Video source, build the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. This suits clips that should play in a set order; a single Media Source is simpler when the hotel maintains one edited master. Test the playlist through its end as well, including its transitions and audio levels. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC support to be available in the OBS installation.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live

In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Set the title, description, privacy, and other event details the hotel needs.

In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming configuration. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe this connection.

Treat the stream key like a password. Do not include it in screenshots, public documents, or messages to people who do not operate the stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace the saved key in OBS.

Choose RTMPS where available. In OBS, set a constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube recommends two seconds and says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Select resolution, frame rate, and bitrate based on the video, the tested PC, and available upload capacity—not a generic preset. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
Test the full setup before launch
Use YouTube’s test and preview workflow, then check the stream where viewers will see it. YouTube recommends checking the Live Control Room preview, the channel or watch page, and mobile playback, and monitoring stream health and audio/video quality.

Confirm the promotional video starts, loops, and plays sound at the intended levels.

Check the YouTube preview and watch page for the correct image, audio, title, and privacy setting.

Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators while the PC and network are under the conditions expected during the promotion.

Leave at least 20% upload headroom beyond the total stream bitrate, including when other hotel users or devices are online.

Verify that the PC, OBS, and network remain stable in the actual installation. A successful short preview does not establish that a particular mini PC will run continuously without intervention.
YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend setting up well in advance. Its encoder guidance says to set up encoders at least two hours before an event and to start the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. These are useful planning buffers, not guarantees of stability.

Keep the mini PC powered, connected to the network, and running OBS for as long as the hotel intends to broadcast. A local loop repeats the video while OBS is running; it does not by itself restart a stopped encoder or recover from a PC, power, or network failure. Monitor the first live session and decide who will respond if the stream or connection drops.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer continuous broadcast will be archived; retain the original promotion file separately. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Fix common loop and stream problems

The video stops at the end: Reopen the Media Source properties and verify Loop is enabled. For a VLC playlist, check Loop Playlist and confirm the intended files are present.

YouTube does not receive the OBS stream: Confirm the correct stream URL and current key are entered in OBS and that the event is active in YouTube Studio. If the key may have been exposed or changed, reset it and update OBS.

The stream reports poor health or drops: Check the connection’s actual upload capacity and other network use. Reduce the stream’s bitrate or output demands if the PC or connection cannot sustain the selected settings, then test again with 20% upload headroom.

Playback is unstable on the mini PC: Test a less demanding resolution or frame rate and simplify the OBS scene. No single configuration can be prescribed without the PC’s encoder capability, the asset, and measured connection capacity.

The stream shows a warning, placeholder, or interruption: Review the content for third-party music or other material that may trigger copyright matching. Confirm permissions and, for licensed material, whether the rights holder must allowlist the channel.

The stream ends and there is no archive: Check its duration. YouTube’s automatic archive provision applies to streams under 12 hours, so preserve the source video independently.
