Best Export Settings for a Kannada News Replay on YouTube: Upload vs Live

For a Kannada news replay, distinguish a file upload from a YouTube Live rebroadcast: they use different bitrates and rate control. Here are the recommended export and encoder settings, plus testing and archive guidance.

For a prerecorded Kannada news replay uploaded as a video, use MP4 with H.264, progressive scan, the recording’s original frame rate, variable bitrate, AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz, and BT.709 color for SDR. At 1080p, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for 24/25/30 fps or 12 Mbps for 48/50/60 fps. Those are upload recommendations: if you rebroadcast the recording through YouTube Live, use live-ingest settings instead, including CBR and a two-second keyframe interval.

First choose: upload a replay or rebroadcast it live?

The delivery method determines the settings. An uploaded file is encoded for YouTube’s on-demand video processing. A live rebroadcast is encoded for YouTube Live ingest and must be sustained by the sending connection. Kannada itself does not require a special codec or bitrate.

Setting Prerecorded replay uploaded as a video Replay rebroadcast through YouTube Live
Delivery Upload a finished video file Send a continuous live feed; prefer RTMPS
Video codec H.264 H.264 is a broadly supported choice; YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1
Scan Progressive; deinterlace interlaced footage before upload Progressive scan recommended
Frame rate Match the recording Use the source rate and a supported rate up to 60 fps
Rate control Variable bitrate (VBR); YouTube does not require a bitrate limit Constant bitrate (CBR)
Keyframes Closed GOP; GOP length half the frame rate Two-second interval recommended; do not exceed four seconds
Audio AAC-LC at 48 kHz is a suitable option AAC or MP3; YouTube lists 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps stereo as recommended advanced settings
SDR color BT.709 Rec.709, 8-bit SDR
1080p bitrate 8 Mbps at 24/25/30 fps; 12 Mbps at 48/50/60 fps The current English live-encoder table lists 14 Mbps at 30 fps and 17 Mbps at 60 fps

Do not copy a live bitrate into an upload export or vice versa. YouTube’s upload encoding guidance and live encoder guidance describe different workflows.

Export settings for an uploaded replay

Video and color

  • Choose MP4 with H.264 video, progressive scan, and SDR BT.709/Rec.709 color for an ordinary SDR program.
  • Keep the frame rate the same as the recording. YouTube advises that content should be encoded and uploaded at its recorded frame rate; common rates include 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps.
  • If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it before upload. YouTube gives converting 1080i60 footage to 1080p30 as an example.
  • For a 16:9 news program, keep the picture and graphics within a 16:9 frame. YouTube’s standard computer aspect ratio is 16:9; the player adapts other aspect ratios.
  • Do not select an HDR export profile unless the source and production workflow are actually HDR.

Upload bitrate by resolution and frame rate

Use the row matching both the export resolution and frame rate. These are YouTube’s published SDR upload recommendations, not a promise of a particular visible quality.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Resolution 24/25/30 fps 48/50/60 fps
720p 5 Mbps 7.5 Mbps
1080p 8 Mbps 12 Mbps
1440p 16 Mbps 24 Mbps
2160p (4K) 35–45 Mbps 53–68 Mbps

For a 1080p30 studio bulletin, for example, use 8 Mbps as the upload video bitrate recommendation. A 1080p50 export falls in the high-frame-rate column, so the recommendation is 12 Mbps.

Audio and quality checks

Use AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz. Before uploading the full program, inspect an exported sample for clear speech and stable levels, and check Kannada glyphs, subtitle rendering, ticker text, and names. The codec and bitrate settings cannot fix missing or incorrectly rendered glyphs in the source graphics.

Settings for rebroadcasting a recording through YouTube Live

Encoder configuration

  • Use RTMPS where available and send progressive video at the source frame rate, using a supported rate up to 60 fps.
  • Use H.264 with CBR. YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1, but H.264 is a broadly supported starting point.
  • Set keyframes every two seconds; do not let the interval exceed four seconds.
  • For SDR, use Rec.709, 8-bit color. YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 audio; its advanced settings list 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps stereo.
  • Set the video bitrate for the exact live resolution and frame rate, then confirm the current recommendation and stream health in YouTube’s live controls before going on air.

Live bitrate examples

The current English version of YouTube’s live encoder table lists these H.264 examples:

Live resolution and frame rate Recommended video bitrate
720p30 8 Mbps
720p60 8 Mbps
1080p30 14 Mbps
1080p60 17 Mbps

YouTube can change its recommendations, and the live guidance can show differing table values across localized versions. Check the current English live encoder page when configuring the encoder. These values are for live ingest, not file uploads.

Make Kannada news graphics readable

News footage often combines a mostly static presenter shot with sharp-edged graphics, a scrolling ticker, names, and occasional video inserts. Preserve the source frame rate instead of raising it just to choose a larger number. Review the export at full size: look for softened Kannada letterforms, broken glyphs, ticker judder, and blockiness around text or fast-moving inserts. If subtitles or graphics are generated separately, verify that the font supports the Kannada characters used.

Test the broadcast and protect the archive

Before the scheduled stream

  1. Run an unlisted or private test using representative speech, movement, graphics, and inserted clips.
  2. Check stream health and audio/video quality while the test is live.
  3. Measure the sustained upload connection and ensure it can carry the configured stream reliably; a brief speed-test peak is not a guarantee that the connection will hold.
  4. Choose the highest resolution and bitrate that the connection can sustain reliably. A higher target that causes dropped frames or buffering can make the viewer experience worse.

YouTube’s live settings guidance and live streaming tips cover stream setup and testing.

Keep a local copy

YouTube says it can automatically archive live streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends recording a local archive as a backup. Confirm that the recording is growing during the broadcast and check the saved file before deleting the source material. An external drive is one possible place to keep that copy; choose storage capacity based on the program’s duration and recording bitrate. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Common problems and fixes

  • Upload looks soft or text is hard to read: Check that the export uses the intended resolution and the upload bitrate for that resolution and frame rate. Inspect the source graphics and exported sample; encoding cannot repair low-resolution artwork or a font-rendering problem.
  • Live stream buffers or drops frames: The connection may not sustain the configured bitrate. Test with representative content and lower the live resolution or bitrate until the connection is stable.
  • Live stream settings are rejected or stream health is poor: Confirm that the encoder is using CBR, progressive video, a two-second keyframe interval (never over four seconds), and the correct live—not upload—bitrate recommendation.
  • Motion looks uneven: Check that the export or encoder frame rate matches the source rather than an arbitrary higher rate.
  • Kadanna text or names render incorrectly: Check the source font and graphics pipeline, then inspect a newly exported sample before publishing.
  • No usable YouTube archive appears: Do not rely on YouTube capture for a stream longer than 12 hours; verify the local recording and retain the source until the file is checked.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the replay needs to remain live on YouTube without leaving a home computer on, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo plays the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it does not re-encode. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded video, not camera broadcasts. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
