On a Mac, open YouTube Studio in a desktop browser, upload your video files, and assign them to a playlist in each video’s details. You can select up to 15 videos at a time, but you still need to review the details for every video. These steps assume “stream files” means video recordings; audio-only files must first be turned into a video.
Before you start
- Sign in to the YouTube channel that should own the videos.
- Make sure the files are videos in a format YouTube accepts. YouTube does not accept an audio file by itself as a video upload.
- Upload only material you own or have the necessary rights and licenses to use.
YouTube Studio is a browser-based workflow on Mac; these instructions do not require a separate Mac app. The standard creator steps below are for ordinary channel uploads, not specialized Content Manager workflows for label or distributor partners.
If your files are audio-only
First use video-editing software to combine each audio recording with an image and export it as a video file. YouTube’s upload guidance suggests converting audio to video with an image; it does not name a required software product. See YouTube’s computer upload instructions.
Upload the videos and add them to a playlist
- In a desktop browser on your Mac, open YouTube Studio and sign in to the correct channel.
- Select Create > Upload videos.
- In the file picker, select the video files you want to upload. YouTube Help says you can upload up to 15 videos at a time. On a Mac, you can select multiple files in the picker using the usual multi-selection keys.
- For each uploaded video, open Edit and review its details. A batch upload does not fill in or verify each video’s information for you.
- In a video’s upload details, use Playlist to choose an existing playlist or create one, then save the selection.
- Review the audience and visibility settings for each video before finishing. Uploading does not mean you must publish immediately: a video can remain private and be made public later.
- Complete the upload and allow YouTube to process the videos. Check Content > Playlists in Studio to confirm the playlist and its contents.

Create the playlist separately when you want to set it up first
If the playlist does not exist yet—or you want to choose its visibility and order before adding the videos—create it in Studio first.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > New playlist.
- Enter a title and description, then set the playlist’s visibility and ordering.
- Select Add videos, add the relevant uploads, and select Create.
- To review or change it later, go to Content > Playlists. You can edit a playlist and drag its videos into a different order. YouTube also documents adding videos to an existing playlist from search, a URL, or your library.

Choose visibility and check rights before publishing
Private, Unlisted, and Scheduled are useful choices when you need to review uploads before they are public. Public videos become available after you save the public setting and processing is complete. Choose visibility deliberately for both videos and the playlist: playlist visibility does not replace the visibility setting on each individual video.
You must own the rights to the video or have the necessary licenses. YouTube’s upload and claim guidance addresses Content Manager workflows; its rights requirement is relevant, but the specialized asset and rights-management steps are not required for every creator.

Troubleshoot common upload and playlist problems
The files do not appear in the picker
Check that you are browsing to the folder where the recordings are stored and that they are video files rather than audio-only files. Convert audio-only material into a video with an image before uploading.
Only some videos are in the playlist
Open each video’s details and check its Playlist selection. A multi-file upload does not guarantee that every video was assigned to the same playlist. Then inspect the playlist under Content > Playlists.

A video is uploaded but not public
Check the video’s visibility setting. Uploading and publishing are separate; a private video remains private until you change its visibility, and a scheduled video follows its scheduled publication setting.
The playlist order is wrong
Open the playlist in Studio and drag the videos into the desired order. Confirm the saved order in the playlist management view.
